Use of Budget Period in Scope (Error Field BUDGET_PERIOD is Missing Since the go-live of the datamart in September 2002, the use of Budget Period in the scope has not been required. If you include Budget Period within your scope in Version 8.4, the Report will error with the following error message; "Could not use query GU_NVS_WEB_OB. The field BUDGET_PERIOD is missing." To remove this from your scope, Open the Scope using Adhoc Scope Definition, go to the line that includes the budget period and delete using the button shown below; Checking Error Messages If you are monitoring your report from the Process Monitor (There is a hyperlink on the Report request page) then you can check your error messages by clicking on "Details" then clicking on "Message Log". Most times, you will get a reasonable explanation as to why the report may have errored
Scheduling Reports (If Report Request is Timing Out) Using the Process Monitor is advised. Wait until a report request has completed prior to initiating the next one. This will make your reports run quicker and reduces the risk of slowing the system for other report users. If you need reports for multiple Departments, as an example, consider modifying your scope to include all the Department codes you need rather than initiating a number of report requests Reports Produced From Version 7.5 (Error Run-time Error 5 ) If you are reviewing a report that was generated prior to the Go-Live of Version 8.4, you will need to use the PS version of 7.5 in order to perform Drilldowns. You will need to log into FS75PS, then Go > PeopleTools>Nvision Nvision will then open in Excel and the normal Macros will be initiated. Users can then Drilldown using the Drill menu option as opposed to the NvisionDrill option used by Version 8.4 If you attempt to perform a Drilldown from 7.5 produced reports in Version 8.4. you will receive the following error message
Creation of Scopes Without Department ID (error message Variable [= 'E:\PSOFT8\FS840PD\NVISION is invalid for document templates. Or 'Excel interface exception [e:\' Error for 'Microsoft Excel:'. The defaults within the system have been set up to facilitate EOM Reporting. This is based on Department Security as assigned to individual users. To do this, templates within the Report Request Page (Go>Reporting Tools>PSNVision>Define Report Request OR Go>Reporting Tools>PSNVision>Adhoc Report Request Defn) have been set up to default the Department ID at the start of both the Content Delivery Template or the File Distribution Template. These default values appear as below: When the Field Value of DEPTID is not defined in the Scope, then the highlighted templates need to be changed. The value %SFV.DEPTID% should be changed to %SFV.PROJECT_ID% (If Project specified in the scope) or %SFV.CLASS_FLD% (if Class specified in the scope) or %SFV.FUND_CODE% (if Fund specified in scope) or %SFV.ACCOUNT% (if Account specified in scope) eg it is dependant on the field value specified in the Scope. NOTE: If DEPTID is one of the fields specified in the scope no change is required. If you are using a any of the above combinations without the DEPTID, you only have to specify one of them in the Templates shown above. Which-ever one you specify, this value will appear in the filename of your report. To navigate to the above page, Go>Reporting Tools>PSNVision>Define Report Request OR Go>Reporting Tools>PSNVision>Adhoc Report Request Defn
