CASE STUDY HADECS 342 FOR IMTECH TRAFFIC AND INFRA Smart Motorways for UK Highways Agency As road user numbers continues to grow, the network needs to be managed innovatively to maximise capacity. When Imtech Traffic & Infra was looking for a partner to deliver the UK Highways Agency s new solution for improving traffic flow (HADECS3), AGD was its natural choice. Using our most advanced detection system to date, the 342 enforcement radar, AGD provides the highly accurate speed and range data required for Imtech Traffic & Infra s integrated speed enforcement solution. CASE STUDY LOW POWER INTERNAL SIGN RADAR Meeting bespoke requirements for sign applications PLAYING TO OUR STRENGTHS World-class solutions require world-class people behind them and we have the best in the business. Our customer had successfully trialled the 330 internal radar solution for their speed warning sign. They engaged with us to affect a number of product enhancements to enable the 330 to be more easily integrated into their host system and to provide a sustainable long term low power solution: The customer requested a series of improvements; Change in the Communications interface to reduce system complexity Reduce the power consumption to fit better with the system power budget Provision of extra detection outputs Reduction in cost to address specific market needs AGD s engineering team adapted the product to meet these needs; Changed to the preferred communication interface Adopted a different radar processing technique which reduced power by 37% Added the new required output features Removed peripheral and optional functions & hardware which were not used Sample radars were modified for evaluation and further on-street trials confirmed operation of the enhanced features. The revised radar was re-certified and was supplied at a 22% cost saving to the original standard radar. AGD demonstrated flexibility in taking an existing detection platform and adapting it to match specific customer requirements.
