Greeter for October is: Ian Brodie Cashiers for October are: Lindsay Hurford, Julie Olney President s Report Meeting of Tuesday September 25, 2012 Club Forum The meeting of Tuesday last took the form of a Club Forum. Members updated the Club about the various activities that have been completed or will shortly commence. In his presentation to the Club of Person Behind the Badge Michael Jackomos spoke to us about growing up in Carlton and surrounding suburbs, the son of Greek migrants. Michael completed his apprenticeship as a plumber and later went on to be a partner in a plumbing business. Michael and Anne have two adult children. Thank you Michael for an interesting and informative glimpse at your earlier life. John Gander demonstrated how to assemble the newest stand purchased for the selling of raffle tickets in locations such as Croydon Central and Main Street. The September Board Meeting was held at the conclusion of the meeting.

Notes from the Board Meeting The Board agreed that the 40 th Charter Anniversary will be a luncheon at Croydon Golf Club on Sunday March 3, 2013. Please mark this date in your diary. Further information will be supplied closer to the date. Next Meeting The speaker at our next meeting is: Nic Petrakis, Divisional Manager Corporate Services for Denso Automotive Systems, Merrindale Drive Croydon. Denso are component suppliers to the automotive industry. Dates to Remember Selling of Raffle Tickets at Croydon Central Thursday and Friday October 4 and 5 Selling of Raffle Tickets at Main Street Monday October 8, Thursday and Friday October 11 and 12 Tuesday October 16, Partners Night, Primary School Public Speaking Competition Maroondah Secondary College, Brentnall Road, Croydon District Governors Visit to Croydon Tuesday November 13, 2012, Partners Night Pat and I will be in South Africa on holiday from October 9 until November 11. During this period David Ferres will be Acting President. Ross Taylor The Primary School Speech Competition Will be held on Tuesday October 16th 2012, which is a partners night. There are 11 schools competing and all are preparing already. The judges are all experienced Toastmaster judges all keen to go. The Competition will be held at: Maroondah Secondary College Theatre Brentnall Road, off Maroondah Highway, Croydon Melway Map 50, E3 Commencing at 6.45pm (contestant briefing) for 7:00 pm start Come along to foster better friendships within the school communities. Best of all bring a plate (loaded) for supper to make it more beneficial to all concerned! See you there! Marlene Sinclair

Guest Speaker - 2nd October Meeting Guest speaker for our meeting on 2nd October will be Mr Nick Petrakis who is Divisional Manager - Corporate Services, at Denso Automotive Systems Australia. Denso has been based in Croydon since 1989 and is a large manufacturer of automotive engine cooling systems, air conditioning, air intake systems, fuel pump modules, instrument clusters as well as selling and distributing a wide range of aftermarket products. We are delighted that Nick is able to visit our club and we look forward to learning more about the outstanding Denso business. Please make every effort to attend. Jim and Kevin (Programs)
