OVERVIEW Interactive Slice shows 3D View plus 3 slices through the data. I-DEAS Transient Post-Processing software provides test and analysis engineers capabilities for addressing applications where the operating conditions are changing over time. The primary application is fixed sample order tracking where the test objectives relate to acoustics, and data is collected from rotating machinery with rpm changing over time. Key features include an advanced user interface which provides a high level of ease-of-use in post-processing time history data. Real-time displays, intelligent forms, geometry displays, and icons guide the user through the signal analysis process. The same realtime displays available in I-DEAS Transient Measurements software are provided for efficient inspection of time history data files. Up to 20 channels can be displayed simultaneously to view waveform and frequency content. The following fast displays are provided: time, windowed time, time and windowed, spectra, time and spectra, min/max level, and waterfall. 2
TRANSIENT SPECTRA POST-PROCESSING Test for I-deas Transient Post-Processing software processes measured multichannel time history data stored in disk files into spectra and orders. Fixed sampled time histories are processed on a frame-by-frame basis to produce spectra. These spectra are tagged with the corresponding rpm or time, stored, and may be subsequently displayed in 3D spectral map graph formats. The spectra browser and order slice capabilities described later provide outstanding interactivity in interrogating and presenting the results. SETUP CONDITIONS AND OPTIONS A series of intelligent user tables aid you in defining the signal analysis processing parameters. The conditions are set up using a table addressing all the interdependent sampling parameters including number of spectral lines and frame size: Triggering methods include free run and every frame. Every frame triggering can be initiated based on selecting either rpm or time increments. The sweep direction can be set to runup, rundown, or either. Trigger sources include manual, channel, or external. Optional delays include pre-trigger and post-trigger. Windows include Hanning, flat top, exponential, and impact. Overlap processing is supported. Selectable phase reference channel. Both pulse tachometers and DC proportional to rpm are supported. RESULTS GRAPHING Results can either be in the form of time histories or spectral maps. Comprehensive display features are available for both data forms. Multichannel time histories can be displayed using overlaid graphs, stacked graphs, or using the fast real-time display facility. Three-dimensional spectral maps are used to display spectra data obtained at rpm or time increments. These spectral maps can be used to view the data. The spectra browser provides comprehensive, highly interactive results graphing and includes capabilities for: XY graphing, stacked XY graphs, XYZ graphing, Campbell Diagrams, and graph slicing options for order generation. The spectra browser also provides capabilities for presenting the graphs in terms of narrow band, octave, 1/3 octave, 1/n octave; applying A, B, and C weight-ings; and cursor-selecting specific 2D slices of the data. The Order Slice capability enables the user to extract orders calculated from data contained in fixed or proportional bands and to apply smoothing algorithms. The Interactive Slice tool allows interactive display of RPM, Frequency and order slices. Simply move the cursor over the 3D display with mouse or keys and the slice displays are instantly updated. Multiple order slices can be displayed at once. 3
HARMONIC TRACKING USING PRONY RESIDUE The Prony Residue method provides a specific harmonic tracking capability that is included as a supplement to the signal processing tools in I-DEAS Standard Post-Processing software. IDEAS Transient Post-Processing software provides more extensive features directly targeted as general transient applications. The benefits of Prony Residue include: Higher frequency resolution can be achieved compared to the classical FFT. A tachometer signal is not required for producing a spectra versus time graph. Multiple, independent harmonic processes can be tracked. Operates on evenly sampled time history data. Order tracking using the Prony Residue method can be performed when a reference tachometer signal for tracking the changing rpm is available. This method, using evenly spaced time data, provides the benefits of being able to track rapid speed changes, and improves frequency resolution. The following capabilities are provided: RPM maps: Spectra versus rpm or linear speed graphs can be developed. Order track display: An XY graph of amplitude and phase versus rpm can be developed for each order. RPM versus time. PREREQUISITE Test for I-deas Core Many different graph formats are available for results graphing. 4
