Centralized Software Update Management for Automotive Manage from anywhere The Software Update Management service features a powerful, easy to use, web-based administration console. View all available software updates, obtain fleet status and analytics, and deploy new software updates across all impacted clients or a selected group of clients. Multi component updates Deploy updates to a specific component or to a number of components using a single or multipackage update. Dependency Management Dependencies between components (such as installation order and minimal version requirements) can be specified directly in a dedicated console interface or obtained automatically if specified in the package archive metadata. Software Delivery Customization The management console or dedicated RESTful APIs can be used to specify filters to restrict distribution of specific updates or packages based on geographic region, vehicle characteristics (such as model number), or specific vehicle configurations. Patch Management Advanced patch and software deployment options allow automakers to lower the costs of managing software updates by eliminating the need to track individual source/destination pairs. When an update is deployed, the system automatically determines and directs respective clients to download the appropriate packages. Advanced Subsidiary and User Management Use multi-level subsidiary capabilities to separate software components, vehicles, or hardware components used between different subsidiaries. Each user can be assigned a specific level of access with the ability to see or manage only the information pertaining to that user s subsidiary. For example, an administrator could have access to data for Company A and its Subsidiaries A1 and A2, whereas users of those subsidiaries could have access only to data for those subsidiaries. Flexible Integration and Deployment Options On Premise Management Segment Deployment Restrict access to management console to within company s local network via the on-premise management segment deployment option. Download Servers Integration Use the BlackBerry worldwide infrastructure with optional 3rd party Content Distribution Network (e.g., Akamai) acceleration or your company internal private or public network hosted download servers. Connecting with external data sources The Software Update Management service is designed to connect with external data sources to obtain information about software updates and managed vehicles. Use dedicated RESTful web services to synchronize software update information and device information from company dedicated software repositories and asset management systems. The software updates and packages themselves can be also be automatically pushed or pulled from an external software repository via RSS feeds and from a BlackBerry-specified software update XML manifest. Binary upload to the Software Update Management platform is optional, except if the BlackBerry network or BlackBerry integrated CDN is to be used for download of the binary files. The system can also be customized to work with other adapter technologies (for example, webdav or ftp). Dedicated Testing and Staging Environments Use dedicated testing and staging environments or production whitelisting to enable the rollout of updates to a specified group of devices prior to updates being released globally.
Robust analytics Use an intuitive interface to obtain real time software distribution, uptake rate, update status, and fleet status information. Search for a group of selected vehicles or an individual vehicle to obtain a holistic view of its latest known software configuration. Use analytics to diagnose problems and collect diagnostic information remotely. Open APIs are provided to export data to existing external analytics and reporting systems.
