Web Admin Tool (WAT) User Manual 1. Introduction 1.1 Welcome Message Welcome to the.me Web Admin Tool (WAT). This tool is used by Customer Service, Finance, Account Management, and by Registrars, Registry Operators and other business users to perform various registry activities, financial updates, filing reports, contact management, etc. The following functions may be performed using WAT: Domain management Contact management Host management Registrar management User Management 1.2 Requirements Internet Browser (Internet Explorer 7,8 or Firefox 2,3) Email access 1.3 Login Follow the steps below to login to the system. 1. Type the Web Admin Tool URL in your browser: (NOTE: This URL is registry-specific for each domain. Contact customer service to get instructions for accessing the tool.) The Welcome to the <domain> Registry Tool page displays. 2 3 2. Type your Login name and Password. 3. Click the SIGN IN button on the right. The Welcome to Web Admin Tool page displays. 2. Navigation Once you have logged in, you will be on the Welcome to Web Admin Tool page (see above). In the upper right corner of the page, there is a LOG OUT icon which allows you to log out of the system from any page at your discretion (see the red arrow in the example below). Also, if you wish to return to the Welcome page from any other page, simply click HOME (green arrow). And if you need to contact Customer Service for assistance or additional information, click CONTACT US (yellow arrow). 2.1 Contact Us Page The Contact Us page allows WAT users to access Registrar Relations websites to open (or update) a Request Tracker (RT) ticket for Customer Support s help, or to find telephone and fax numbers for the Customer Support department. The Contact Us page contains the following links, as well as the telephone and fax numbers for Customer Support: Open/Update a Ticket (link to URL) NOTE: Availability subject to RR and RT ticketing system in each registry and its access to the RT system to create tickets. Customer Support (telephone and fax numbers) Registrar Relations (link to website) FAQ (link to Frequently Asked Questions page may not be available in your registry at this time) NOTE: Subject to FAQ availability in each registry. Use the steps below access the Contact Us page. 1 1. On any page in the system, move the cursor over the Contact Us link in the upper-right portion of the page and click the Contact Us link. The Contact Us page displays. 2 2. Click one of the links as desired, or use the phone numbers to contact Customer Support. 2.2 Tabs The page contains tabs as shown below. Once you are in the tool, to see the actions available to you under each tab, or its other contents, simply move your cursor over any of them, and their sub-tabs will display: Domains Create Domains Manage Domains Contacts Create Contacts Manage Contacts Hosts Create Hosts Manage Hosts Registrars Manage Registrars Users Manage Users Tools RGP Report Sunrise You will learn what each tab does in detail as you go through this user manual. NOTE: Throughout this manual you will see pages where a large amount of space is left on a page (such as this one) following text or a graphic image. 3. Managing Domains The pages described below allow you to manage your domains if you have the proper permissions. 3.1 Checking Domain Availability Prior to Creating a Domain Use the steps below to verify domain name availability. 1 2 1. On the Welcome to Web Admin Tool page, move the cursor over the Domains tab. 2. Click the Create Domains submenu. The Create Domains page displays. (Details are shown on following pages.) 3. Type desired domain name, or names, in the DOMAIN NAMES text box. (In the example below, the domain name being verified is twindham.test.) NOTE: All of the screen examples in this manual show.test as the domain example. The Web Admin Tool for your registry will show your domain in this area. For example, twindham.test would be twindham.<your domain>. 3 4 4. Click the Validate icon to the right of the text box. The system verifies availability of the domain name and displays the appropriate message. (In this example, the domain name is available so the name can be created.) If the domain name is unavailable, a message like the one below will display. 3.2 Creating a Domain Once you have determined that the desired domain is available, use the steps below to create the domain name. You must have the required permissions to create a domain name. Depending on registry settings, you may or may not see the following areas on the Create Domains page: Trademark/IPR information Other Contacts IDN Script Other Contact Type (drop-down menu) Version 1.0 (c) Copyright 2011 Afilias 7
1. On the Welcome to Web Admin Tool page, move the cursor over the DOMAINS tab. 2. Click the Create Domains submenu. 1 2 The Create Domains page displays in open view mode (all available sections fully expanded). GENERAL INFORMATION SECTION 4 3 5 6 3. Type a domain name in the DOMAIN NAMES text box. (In the example above, we re attempting to create twindham.test. NOTE: If your domain name is an Internationalized Domain Name (IDN), you must type the name in Punycode format. 4. Click the VALIDATE icon to check availability (as you learned earlier) and to see the status of the domain name. The system determines whether or not the domain name you typed exists in the system. If the name is already in use, the response below displays. If the name is not in use, and therefore available, the response below displays. Go on to question 5. 5. Use the drop-down menu under PERIOD to select the term for the domain name you wish to create. Select from 1 to 10 years, then click the appropriate number. (The term period selected in the example above was 1 year.) The text box will be populated with the number you selected. 6. Type the correct authorization (this is an authorization code of your own creation) in the AUTHORIZATION INFORMATION text box. (In the example above, the authorization information used was my secret. GENERAL INFORMATION SECTION, (cont d) 7 7. If you are requesting a name which requires an IDN script, use the drop-down menu under IDN SCRIPT to select an abbreviation for the appropriate language. (For example, you would select is for Icelandic, pl for Polish, etc.) The text box will be populated with the language you selected. Version 1.0 (c) Copyright 2011 Afilias 10
CONTACT INFORMATION SECTION 8 9 10 11 8. Type the name of the REGISTRANT in the appropriate text box. 9. User the TECHNICAL CONTACTS text box to show the name(s) of the people in the Registrant organization who should be contacted for technical questions. NOTE 1: You may copy-and-paste any contact(s) from one text box to another. NOTE 2: For all of the contacts above, if you wish to show additional or back-up contact names, click the 1ADD MORE1 button. 10. In the ADMINISTRATIVE CONTACTS text box, show the person(s) to contact for admin questions/problems. 11. The BILLING CONTACTS text box should show who in the Registrant s company can answer billing questions. NAME SERVER INFORMATION SECTION 12 13 12. Type a description of the name server(s) in the NAME SERVER text box(es). NOTE: If you need to add additional nameservers, click the 1ADD MORE1 button. 13. Click.SUBMIT.. The Domains Create Result page displays showing that the domain was created successfully, and showing all of the information about the domain that you just created. The example below shows everything that was typed for the twindham.test domain at the time of its creation. 3.3 Searching for a Domain Use the steps below to search for an existing domain. 1. The Manage Domains page displays. 3 4 3. Type domain name(s) you wish to search for in the Enter Names (With Extension One Per Line) text box. (The domain being searched for in the example above is twindham.test.) 4. Click.SUBMIT.. At the bottom of the Manage Domains page, the system displays a RESULTS section with information as shown in the example below. If there is an IDN script, information on it will also display in Results. You can use the Actions drop-down menu (red arrow) to perform a variety of actions as described in the following sections. 3.4 Managing Domains Use the steps below to update existing domain-related information. This page shows you all the available information on the requested domain that was entered when the domain was created. The major headings are: General Information, Contact Information, Name Servers Information, Hosts Information, and Status Information. None of the fields on this page are modifiable; it is view-only. You may, however, expand (or condense) each of the sections to see what is in it by clicking anywhere in the title bar for that section. For example: In the WAT, click anywhere in this light blue box to expand or condense the section you wish to view. It can be General Information, Contact Information, Name Server Information, etc. Any of these section headers expand (or shrink) the content in this manner. 3.4.2 Updating Domains 1. 2. In the CONTACT INFORMATION section, change any of the fields that require updating (REGISTRANT, TECHNICAL CONTACTS, ADMINISTRATIVE CONTACTS or BILLING CONTACTS). NAME SERVER INFORMATION AND CLIENT STATUS SECTIONS 8 9 10 8. To update a name server(s), type the new name in the NAME SERVER text box in the NAME SERVER INFORMATION section. If you need to add an additional name server(s), click the 1ADD MORE1 button. 9. To update CLIENT STATUS, click the REASON checkbox for the status(es) that are applicable: SET HOLD, SET TRANSFER PROHIBITED, SET RENEW PROHIBITED, SET DELETE PROHIBITED, or SET UPDATE PROHIBITED. 5. Click Renew in the drop-down menu in the Results section of the Manage Domains page. 5 The Renew Domains page displays. 6 6. Click the down arrow in the drop-down menu under ENTER PERIOD (1-10 YEARS). The ENTER PERIOD menu displays. 7 7. Select (click) the desired term period for the renewal. The domain is permanently deleted and the following message displays: 3.5 Checking a Contact ID s Availability Use the steps below to check to see if a domain Contact ID is available. 1. 3. Type the CONTACT IDENTIFIER you wish you use to create a contact in the proper field. (In the example below, OTE-D1 was typed.) 3 4 4. Click the Validate icon to the right of the text box to check availability of the Contact ID. NOTE: If there is other address information (e.g., suite number, building number, etc.), show that in the STREET2 and STREET3 text boxes. 9. Type the city name in the CITY text box. Required. 10. Complete the STATE OR PROVINCE text box with the appropriate information. Required. 11. Type the POSTAL CODE (zip code) in the text box. 12. Once you click.submit., the Contact information is saved in the system and the Contact Create Result page is displayed (as shown in the example below). 3.7 Searching for an Existing Contact Use the steps below to search for a contact. 1. The Manage Contacts page displays. 3 4 3. Type the Contact ID you wish to search for in the Enter IDs (One Per Line) text box. (In the example above, the search is for OTE-D1.) If you wish to search for more than one Contact ID, press the Return key after the first entry and type the next Contact ID. 4. Click.SUBMIT.. If the system finds the Contact ID, it displays a Results page with the following information about the contact: Name Id Owned By Created date Created By Last Updated By Last Updated Date Actions Version 1.0 (c) Copyright 2011 Afilias 28
If the system cannot locate the Contact ID, it displays a message similar to the following: 3.8 Managing a Contact Once the system displays the contact you searched for (as shown in the example below), you can perform several different actions on that contact: View, Update, Transfer, or Delete. 3.8.1 Viewing a Contact 1. The View Contacts page displays all information on the contact in a read-only mode. (See example below.) 3.8.2 Updating a Contact 1. On the Manage Contacts page, in the Results section, click Update under Actions. 1 The Update Contacts page displays all information that you may update for the contact that you selected. 2 3 4 2. If your AUTHORIZATION INFORMATION is not in the text box, you must provide it here. This is MANDATORY. 3. You may update any of the data on this page by following the steps explained in the following sections: GENERAL INFORMATION (3.2 Creating a Domain), ADDRESS INFORMATION (3.2 Creating a Domain), and CLIENT STATUS, SERVER STATUS (3.4.2 Updating Domains). 4. 3.8.3 Transferring a Contact 1. In the Results section, click Transfer under Actions. 1 The Transfer Contacts page displays. 2 3 4 2. Use the drop-down menu to select a TRANSFER OPERATION to perform. Note: QUERY is currently the only option. 3. Type your AUTHORIZATION INFORMATION in the text box. This is MANDATORY. 4. Click.SUBMIT.. The contact is successfully transferred. 3.8.4 Deleting a Contact 1. In the Results section, click Delete under Actions. 1 The Delete Contacts page displays showing the Contact ID. 2 2. If you wish to proceed with the deletion, click.confirm.. The Contact ID is removed from the system and all records. 3.9 Checking Host (Name Server) Availability Use the steps below to check host name availability. NOTE: There are two types of hosts: internal and external. An internal host is one that resides within the registry where your WAT tool is located. For example, if you re working on the.info WAT tool, any host with a suffix of that domain (ns1.example.info, for example) would be an internal host. If the host has any other suffix in its name (such as ns1.example.com or ns2.example.net), the host is external, meaning it is outside your registry. In the WAT tool, you may create both internal and external hosts. You may only add IP Address information to an internal host. Version 1.0 (c) Copyright 2011 Afilias 33

Type the desired HOST NAME in the appropriate text box. (In this case, the host name being created is ns8.example.com.) 4. Click the Validate icon to the right of the text box. b. If the host name is not available, the following message displays: 3.10 Creating a Host (Name Server) Use the steps below to create a host. 1. On the Welcome to Web Admin Tool page, move the cursor over the Hosts tab. 1 2. Click the Create Hosts submenu. The Create Hosts page displays. 2 Version 1.0 (c) Copyright 2011 Afilias 35
3 4 5 6 3. Type the desired host name in the HOST NAME text box. 4. Click the Validate icon, if desired, to check to see if the host name is available. 5. Type the IP ADDRESS in the appropriate text box. If additional IP Addresses are required, click the 1ADD MORE1 button. NOTE: You can only input an IP Address for a host (internal) in your WAT tool s domain. You do not need to input an IP Address to create a name server. 6. Click.SUBMIT.. 3.11 Searching for Hosts Use the steps below to search for an existing host. 1. On the Welcome to Web Admin Tool page, move the cursor over the Hosts tab. 1 2. Click the Manage Hosts submenu. The Manage Hosts page displays. 2 3 4 3. Type the host name(s) for which you wish to search. For more than one host, press Return to move to the next line. (In the example above, the search is for ns12.example.info. 4. Click.SUBMIT.. Last Updated By Last Updated Date Actions (In the search for ns12.example.info above, the Results display on the Manage Host page and look like the example below.) 3.12 Managing a Host Once the system displays the host you searched for, you can perform different actions on that host: View, Delete, and Update. 3.12.1 Viewing a Host Follow the steps below to view a host in the system. 1. The Delete Hosts page displays. 2 2. Click.CONFIRM. to delete the host shown. 3.12.3 Updating a Host The steps below describe how to update a host. 1. 2 3 4 5 2. If desired, rename the host by typing a new name in the NEW HOST NAME text box.. (In the example above, the host name is being changed from ns8.example.com to ns8b.example.com. 3. If necessary, click the 1ADD MORE1 button to add a new IP ADDRESS 4. Update the client status as required in CLIENT STATUS section. You may SET DELETE PROHIBITED or SET UPDATE PROHIBITED by clicking the check box(es) and typing a reason. 5. Click.SUBMIT.. The system confirms that the command was completed successfully. (Using our host name update from above as an example, the Host Create Result page displays with the host name updated and showing the confirmation message [see example below]). The Manage Registrars page displays. 3.14 Managing Registrars Use the steps below to manage (view or update) existing registrar information such as URLs, email addresses, or contacts. 1. On the Welcome to Web Admin Tool page, move the cursor over the Registrars tab. 1 2 2. Click the Manage Registrars submenu. The Manage Registrars page displays. 3 4 3. Type the registrar s name in the Enter Registrar Names (One Per Line) text box. (In this example, the search is for registrar ClientXY. 4. Click.SUBMIT.. Registrar Name IANA ID Created By Last Updated By Last Updated Date Actions Once the system displays the registrar s information in the Results portion of the Manage Registrars page, there are two actions that you can perform: view and update. NOTE: You will be able to see the View and Update actions only if you are associated to the registrar account. If you are a user and wish to find out information about another registrar to whom you are not associated, then only general information (who created it, when it was last updated and by whom)will be visible to you. 3.14.1 Viewing Registrar Information This action allows you to view detailed registrar information. 1. 3.14.2 Updating Registrar Information This action permits you to update registrar information. 1. In the Results portion of the Manage Registrars page, click Update under Actions. 1 The Update Registrars page displays. 2 3 2. The system saves the updated information and displays a confirmation message (as shown below). 3.15 Filing an RGP Restore Report NOTE: ONLY USERS WITH PROPER PERMISSIONS CAN PERFORM THIS ACTION. Use the steps below to file a Restore Report for an RGP. 1. On the Welcome to Web Admin Tool page, move the cursor over the Tools tab. 2.
