PROGRAM OUTLINE 2015 - PAGE 1 MODULE 1 (8 WEEKS) INTRO TO 3D MODELING WITH MAYA An introduction on how to begin building and manipulating objects in 3D Space. DRAWING BASICS Here we will learn drawing basics so that we can learn to start trusting what we see instead of what we think we see. Drawing helps us later to thumbnail and plan things out, and also helps us work out visual compositions. LIFE DRAWING 1 MEDIA STUDY 1 Learn about what works and doesn t work in movies and storytelling by studying from the best! INTRO TO PHOTOSHOP A basic introduction on using Photoshop as a means to create and edit textures that can be used alongside Maya. MODULE 2 (8 WEEKS) 3D MODELING WITH MAYA Learn how to manipulate and change basic geometry to build Objects and Environments. DRAWING BASICS FOR ANIMATION This is a follow up to the Drawing Basics class where we move into more practical drawing applications that help us with our Animation and Modeling process. LIFE DRAWING 2 MEDIA STUDY 2 Learn about what works and doesn t work in movies and storytelling by studying from the best!

PROGRAM OUTLINE 2015 - PAGE 2 MODULE 2 (8 WEEKS) continued INTRO TO 3D ANIMATION WITH MAYA ESSENTIAL PHOTOSHOP SKILLS We will learn additional ways to use Photoshop to our advantage so that we can better work within an Animation pipeline. MODULE 3 (8 WEEKS) ADVANCED 3D MODELING WITH MAYA Challenge the modeling skills that you ve developed over the last few modules to create a complicated environment. CHARACTER MODELING AND RIGGING WITH MAYA I Follow the process of creating a character from concept to a 3D Animatable character. 3D ANIMATION WITH MAYA 1 DRAWING BASICS FOR CHARACTER DESIGN Learn how to create a character from scratch so that you can develop a character design package and a Character T-Pose drawing that will be ready to be modeled in 3D. LIFE DRAWING 3 STORY DEVELOPMENT 1 Work through the process of developing a simple idea and turning it into a fully fleshed out 3 act story that you will turn into a short 3D animated film.

PROGRAM OUTLINE 2015 - PAGE 3 MODULE 4 (8 WEEKS) CHARACTER MODELING AND RIGGING WITH MAYA II Follow the process of creating a character from concept to a 3D Animatable character a second time! Practice makes perfect. 3D ANIMATION WITH MAYA 2 LIFE DRAWING 4 STORY DEVELOPMENT 2 Work through the process of developing a simple idea and turning it into a fully fleshed out 3 act story that you will turn into a short 3D animated film. STORY BOARDING Storyboarding is the part of the animation pipeline where we begin our editing and figure out how to line up our shots. Here we will learn about camera angles and movements and how to lay them out in Story Board sheets. CREATING CONCEPT ART WITH PHOTOSHOP Learn how to create digital art that can be used as a reference point for design elements that can be used in a production. INTRO TO 3D SCULPTING WITH ZBRUSH MODULE 5 (8 WEEKS) 3D ANIMATION WITH MAYA 3 3D SCULPTING WITH ZBRUSH 1

PROGRAM OUTLINE 2015 - PAGE 4 MODULE 5 (8 WEEKS) continued LIFE DRAWING 5 PRE-PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES We will learn tips and tricks on time management and a break down on how to start setting up for what will be your short film. MODULE 6 (8 WEEKS) 3D SCULPTING WITH ZBRUSH 2 3D ANIMATION WITH MAYA 4 PRE-PRODUCTION A set of class periods for you to work on characters, sets and props for your short film. MODULE 7 (8 WEEKS) 3D SCULPTING WITH ZBRUSH 3 3D ANIMATION WITH MAYA 5

PROGRAM OUTLINE 2015 - PAGE 5 MODULE 7 (8 WEEKS) continued PRE-PRODUCTION Dive into Scene Assembly and become a Layout Artist so that you can prepare all your scenes to be Animation ready. MODULE 8 (22 WEEKS) FILM PRODUCTION Here you will work on your very own 3D animated short film that you ve been working towards since your Story Development class! EDITING AND COMPOSITING Learn basic Video and Editing tips and tricks so that you can splice your animated clips together and finalize your 3D Animated Short Film and put your Demo Reel together. MODULE 9 (2 WEEKS) PORTFOLIO, DEMO REEL AND RESUME DEVELOPMENT Build and develop your own Portfolio, Demo Reel and Resume so that you may start promoting yourself within the job market. CARRER PLACEMENT PROGRAM From resume writing to learning about intellectual property, this course helps students prepare for life after Atlantica College.
