Security Documents and Project Management Process February 25 26, 2015 New program. Inaugural pricing. Earn up to 14 CPEs EXPERIENCE, DEDICATION, AND LEADERSHIP IN SECURITY EDUCATION

Use your security dollars wisely! A fundamental knowledge of how security related facility projects are done is key to a project s success. Understanding the design and construction process and its related documentation enhances your value as an educated facilities security program team member. This new two-day program offers a detailed look at how facilities and projects are documented today. Whether you are trying to work with a local security vendor on a specific upgrade or helping the facilities department create a new facility from the ground up, the language of project documentation can be daunting to the uninitiated security professional. The need to understand how your project is defined is a crucial factor in how the project will proceed along with its chance of success. Underestimating the design phase is critical to the bottom line since it s the most cost effective point to integrate security measures. Understanding the bidding/contract process and the basic contractual relationships help facility security professionals know what options are industry standard. Learn from leading security design architects, engineers, and security experts as they share their experiences in completing costeffective facility security designs and projects. Produced by the ASIS Security Architecture and Engineering Council YOUR RETURN ON INVESTMENT Translate your security needs to your facility managers. Analyze methods to reduce and control security project costs. Gain a deeper understanding of the industry approach used by engineers and architects to design and document security systems. Enhance your ability to define and represent security requirements and how they are represented to stakeholders and vendors. Learn how to communicate your intent to facilities departments using the vocabulary of construction documentation. Identify effective project management techniques used to bid, enhance construction management, and implement security systems. PROFESSIONALLY DEVELOPED FOR Security directors Security designers, integrators Facility project managers Real estate professionals with security emphasis Practitioners responsible for their organization s physical security programs Personnel directly involved in the design, specification, implementation, or operation of security systems Save $100 with early bird pricing.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW Project Management Key throughout the document process is project management. Document management is an operation that has numerous phases which have direct impact on security design and infrastructure and that need to be managed appropriately to fulfill the scope, time, and cost as well as the return on investment of the project. Focus will be made on each of the nine areas critical to successfully completing proper document management: Project Integration Management, Project Scope Management, Project Time Management, Project Cost Management, Project Quality Management, Project Human Resources Management, Project Communications Management, Project Risk Management, and Project Procurement Management. Project Pre-Design Phase From defining the scope of work to knowing how to develop a request for proposal or qualification, the need to understand what and how your project is defined is a crucial factor in how the project will proceed along with its chance of success. Project Phase How projects are documented in today s construction industry remains a mystery to many security professionals. In a world where industry specialization is still the norm, the ability to understand how your security program is impacted by today s design and documentation methods will enhance your ability to integrate your security measures at the most cost effective point in the project process during design. Bidding / Contract Phase From how the project is put out to bid to defining the roles and responsibilities of all the various parties, bidding and contracts can be confusing. Understanding the process and the basic contractual relationships will help facility security professionals know what options are industry standard. Security Consultant What role does the security consultant serve? What should a program expect from the consultant in both assistance and documentation? Security Program Integration Gain exposure to the approach and techniques of systems integration that are applied during the design and construction stages. Learn how they affect your security program and master plan. Security System Documentation Review the major aspects of design documentation and learn how to manage the preparation of design deliverables. Managing Project Changes Learn how to deal with the impact of the inevitable changes in requirements, scope, budgets, and/or changes in direction. Completing the Process Address procurement the bid and selection process, evaluation criteria, successful bid negotiation, and project award techniques before moving on to construction administration. Program content updates will be posted at www.asisonline.org.
