8. Importing and Exporting Files Sample inventory can be imported from simple and custom csv files, from DataPaq scanner files and from Samples backup files. 8.1. Importing Files 8.1.1. A Simple CSV Sample Import If you would like to import a simple list of sample names and their barcode, you can use a csv file with the following formatting: Name, Barcode sample #1, 0022239 sample #2, 0022240 sample #3, 0022241 sample #4, 0022242 Note: the first row must be the headings Name and Barcode, typed exactly as shown. Once the samples are imported to your inventory, you can add other metadata and tags within Samples. However, if you already have an inventory tracking file with multiple columns and many characteristics (metadata), then use the csv import template as described in the next section. 8.1.2. Create a Custom.CSV Import Template This template allows for an easy way to upload your inventory and associated metadata into Samples, with minimal data entry. To import a customized.csv file into Samples, follow these steps: 1. Create customized tracking tags that describe your data (Section 4) 2. Create an import template 3.
