Old Ford Housing Association Community rooms, hall and office space for hire Introduction Old Ford Housing Association has developed an award winning Community Development service. Old Ford s dedicated Community Development Team manages a wide range of facilities in Bow, Tower Hamlets, and in Rainham, Havering. The activities delivered at these facilities range from IT training to construction training. Old Ford aims to maintain its reputation for ensuring delivery of a high standard of activities, and is committed to continuing this high standard for all residents. Old Ford has embarked on a new initiative to make its community centres and offices available for hire. Individuals or community groups may now deliver their own bespoke projects or hire out affordable office space located within the different centres. The centres vary in size and usage; Tredegar Community Centre is more suitable for conferences or consultation events, weddings, christenings, birthdays an mendhi parties. Wrights Road and Butley Court community centres are more suitable for smaller scale community based activities or as training and meeting venues. Armagh Road and Ollerton Green are both construction training centres and can be used as workshops to deliver vocational courses. Facilities and other resources Each centre has kitchen facilities for use by private hirers and other users. Tredegar and Butley Court have kitchen areas with a hatch into the hall, as well as cookers and microwaves. Stackable tables and chairs on trolleys are available in most community centres. Numbers are dependent upon the style of layout, whether theatre style or conference style. Audio visual equipment, including plasma screens, are installed in Butley Court, Francis Lee and Wrights Road Community Centres for use by trainers wanting to deliver presentations via laptops. DVD players and music systems are also available in some centres. Flipchart easels and other stationary items are available in all community centres. If you have particular requirements we will try and respond to your needs as far as possible. All community facilities are fully accessible with adapted toilets for use by wheelchair users. The centre offers for hire two halls and two offices with access to a kitchen and storage facilities. Developed in partnership with the Tower Hamlets Local Authority in 2010, the site boasts both purpose built indoor and outdoor facilities. The playground is equipped with a double-width slide, bespoke swings, balancing equipment, hammocks and materials in which to create and adapt dens. The venue has a state of the art adjoining indoor building providing toilets and showers. There is also an expansive hall space which can be used for events and workshops. The large indoor area and adjacent kitchen is ideal for activities ranging from corporate away days to children s parties. The adventure playground and adjoining building is situated within a good network of bus routes, including the No 8 and No 339 to Roman Road/ Stephens Road. The Armagh Road Construction Training Centre is comprised of a fully equipped workshop and office. Accredited training in plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, and painting and decorating is delivered in the centre. Old Ford s Construction Training Initiative is also delivered from the centre. Orchard Village Centre 149 to 151 Lowen Road, Rainham, Essex RM13 4QP Orchard Village Dance Studio Address: Old Ford Housing Association, Orchard Village Housing Office, Chantry Way, Rainham Essex RM13 8PX The Orchard Village Centre is situated within a multi-million pound development in Rainham. This is a large office space which had previously been used to deliver employment and training services for local residents. The office is made up of two large rooms (60m² and 55m²); each room can be further divided to offer four office areas. In addition to the generous office space the centre offers ample storage towards the back of the offices. The Orchard Village Centre is located just of the A13 and is best reached by car. Elm Park station on the district line is the closet station and the Bus 365 from outside Elm Park station brings you to Orchard Village. In 2009 Old Ford worked with young people from the estate to design a dance studio. They secured over 15K to convert a boardroom into the dance studio. The dance studio consists of a mirrored wall, rails, curtains, and wooden flooring. In addition there is also has a small meeting room, kitchen and washroom facilities. It can be used as a meeting room and for dance classes and can accommodate up to 30 people. Orchard Village Dance Studio is situated just off the A13 and is best reached by car. Orchard Village Construction Training Centre 147 Lowen Road, Rainham Essex RM13 The centre was developed as a learning space for the community and is ideal for delivering workshops in any of the following construction trades: Plumbing; Electrical works; Carpentry; Bricklaying. The centre has run a number of taster and professional courses for young people categorised as NEETS and local residents. The centre can cater for up to 15 people, and also has access to a small kitchen and wash room. The Orchard Village Construction Training centre is located just off the A13 and is best reached by car. Each centre has a detailed hire policy with charges that differ between the centres. Old Ford residents living in the area where the community centre is based may be charged the minimum rate at the discretion of the Management Committee or the Community Facilities Co-ordinator. The minimum rate will also apply to unfunded voluntary and community groups operating in the local area. General Conditions of Hire Hirers MUST sign the Detailed Conditions of Hire and return with the Hire Agreement. There must be NO SMOKING in any of our buildings. No ALCOHOL can be sold in the buildings. No DRUGS are to be used or brought into the buildings. No ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES can take place within the buildings. All users MUST treat the buildings with respect. We expect the Hirer to be present during the hire period. Hirers must remember we are subject to the law regarding noise and nuisance. The Hirer is responsible for ensuring that their guests and visitors behave in a responsible way, do not cause any damage to our buildings, and do not cause a disturbance or nuisance to neighbours. Hirers MUST clean up after use, this includes brushing, mopping, and hoovering all areas and rooms used during the period of hire. No furniture or equipment is to be removed from the buildings. ALL rubbish MUST be removed to the bins. If hirers are putting up decorations, they must ensure they remove any cellotape or blue-tac. The Hirer will be responsible for any damage, breakages, theft or vandalism resulting from use by their guests All music must be turned off at 11.00pm at weekends, with cleaning and clearing up completed by 12.00am or other stipulated times. On Sundays private functions must finish at 7.00pm with the centres vacated by 8.00pm. The full hire charge MUST be paid 7 days prior to the booking for private hire. A percentage of the agreed hire charge may be forfitted in the event of short notice cancellation. No parking is available at the Community Centres Prices are subject to annual review Deposits and Cancellations In addition to the above basic requirements, for private hire a returnable deposit is required. We also expect the full hire charge and deposit to be paid in cash at least 7 days prior to the booking. In the event of a cancellation at short notice, i.e. within 7 days, 50% of the paid hire charge will be refundable. The Hirer is responsible for any damage, breakages, theft or vandalism resulting from the use by their guests and will forfeit their deposit. 14 15
