The foundation was a result of an outsourcing process within Icelandic Alloys ltd. and its Parent Company, ELKEM ASA. The service can be divided into three main departments; Mechanical, Electrical and Sales and Spare Part Stock. Since the startup day a lot of water has passed under the bridge. Late in 2004 the number of employees was well over 40 all having extensive practice in Plant maintenance. Page 3 Mechanical department The mechanical department is divided into four areas. Mechanical work shop, Metal work shop, Vehicle work shop and Production area where metal electrode casing for Icelandic Alloys are produced. The area that GT Tækni has for the mechanical department is a hall of 1.000 m 2 and 10 m height. There are four large doors high. There are two overhead cranes of 5 tons each and one 16 tons lift in the Vehicle workshop. The workshops are well equipped for all mechanical and electrical work and maintenance. Production In our production line the Company produces annually 1.000 pcs of metal electrode casings. The dimension of each casing is 2m in height and Working on productin of electrode casing for Icelandic Alloys 1,8 m in diameter. In our Vehicle shop nothing is impossible. Repair of cars, fork lifts, trucks and everything on wheels or belts from bicycles to over 40 tons container truck lift. We have special knowledge in hydraulic systems in stocking cars. The stoking cars are rebuilt in our Vehicle shop so they can take the load when stoking in extreme hot environment in the FeSi furnaces. In the Vehicle shop there long experience in servicing : Hyster Caterpillar Kalmar Case Still - Volvo Komatzu Brokk Clark Electrical department The Electrical department is divided into two areas, the Electric shop and the Electronic shop. The area that GT Tækni has for the electrical department is approximately 115 m2. The Electric shop is equipped with 1 tons overhead crane and a large door. The workshops are well equipped for all electrical work high or low voltages, electronic work and maintenance. The electrical department has license to operate in general electrical work (B-license) and in the high voltage electrical work (A- license). The electrical department also has the responsibility and licenses for all electrical equipments in the Hvalfjördur tunnel. The electrical department handles all general repair and maintenance as well as renewal and rebuilding of electrical equipments. The electrical department serves the whole electrical spectrum within the heavy industry, from the low voltages to the extreme high voltage end of the industry. In the electrical department there is much experience in working with: ASEA Siemens and ABB high voltage equipments PLC- A and B license
Page 4 Special knowledge Extreme heat and floating metal Decades of experience lies within the company in servicing equipments related to heavy industry. There is also special knowledge in plant maintenance, planned and preventative maintenance, repair and building of new equipment. Due to the extreme environment that the equipments are operated in at Icelandic Alloys, a special knowledge has developed in how to operate and prevent the equipments from tearing dust, extreme heat and metal that reaches the temperature of 1.700 C. The tunnel of Hvalfjörður GT Tækni handles and provides all the technical service that the Hvalfjördur tunnel needs. This covers all from general maintenance and repair to painting and asphalting the road surface. In fact everything that concerns equipment, renewing equipments and maintenance in its broadest aspect. The company also provides callout service 24/7 for safety reasons. Belt conveyers GT Tækni has excellent experience in maintaining belt conveyers, crushing equipments, screening equipments and repairing and vulcanizing rubber conveyers belts. The specialization in crushing- and screening equipments is high and in its maintenance and adjustment. Equipments and special knowledge is within the company to assemble rubber conveyer belts with cold gluing or hot vulcanizing. Assembling a rubber conveyer belt demands discipline work methods and specialized equipments. The dimension of the rubber belts is from 50 cm to 120 cm and from two layers up to four layers. Mechanics, electrics, electronics, auto mechanics and material sale all in one place GT Tækni GT Tækni provides callout service 24/7 from mechanics and electrics Material sale and stock Material sales and stock holding are divided into two fields: Purchasing of spare parts and stock holding for Icelandic Alloys ltd and GT Tækni own material purchasing, stock holding and sales. The material sales from GT Tækni spare part stock is mainly related to machinery and el-material. Also included in this field are the production of high pressure hoses and equipments together with rentals of tools and equipments.
