3 Customer Success Story: A to Z Information Services October 2013 ca.com 20 customers using A to Z Information Services BDR appliance Solution End-to-end recovery management services In 2011, A to Z Information Services launched its own BDR (backup and disaster recovery) appliance based on a range of CA Recovery Management solutions, including: CA ARCserve D2D CA ARCserve Replication CA ARCserve High Availability CA ARCserve Central Applications. As well as using the BDR appliance to deliver its own services, it offers the solution to managed service providers (MSPs). The service includes onsite and offsite backups, along with monitoring and support. More than 20 customers now use A to Z Information Services BDR appliance, which protects between four and 10 terabytes for each customer. All data is automatically encrypted to safeguard security, explains Balakrishnaraja. The CA Technologies solutions also protect 10 terabytes of the company s internal data. CA ARCserve D2D is used to backup 50 servers in total, including systems ranging from email and file servers to sector-specific applications such as healthcare solutions. A to Z Information Services is in the process of migrating an additional 150 servers to the CA Technologies solution. Whether a customer needs to recover an individual file or an entire system, they can just call A to Z Information Services helpdesk. A file or folder takes just minutes to recover, and a server from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on its size and complexity. Service desk contacts can simply log into the BDR

As it s so easy to navigate, it doesn t take long to train new staff. As part of A to Z Information Services end-to-end DR services, the company will also restore a customer s server in a virtualized environment until the original server issue is resolved whether this is a few minutes or several days. Using CA ARCserve Central Applications, A to Z Information Services can monitor and report on backups to help ensure the integrity and reliability of recovery. It also means the company can resolve issues quickly and easily, as the solution automatically routes alerts and issue details to the A to Z Operations Center.
