To: Cummins Virtual College, Cummins Learning Center, and Technical Service Center Participants/Attendees The year 2013 brings yet another round of new challenges. In 2013 several new engine platforms will be introduced. Along with the 2013 EPA certified ISB6.7, ISL9, ISX12 and ISX15, in late 2013 Cummins will also be introducing a new compressed natural gas onroad 12 liter engine, the ISX12-G CM2180. Virtually all of our on-highway diesel engines now feature the High Pressure Common Rail fuel system. In order to address the critical issue of technical competence, Cummins Power South has reengineered its commitment to provide product training programs that will increase the knowledge level of those individuals empowered to service and support these varied products. Cummins Virtual College (a CD-ROM based training delivery system) and the new Cummins Learning Center (on-line instruction/qualification) are two of the most advanced, comprehensive, and cost effective learning steps you can take in making sure you are competent to meet the challenges associated with today s advanced products. Along with the engine qualification, the technician will also be introduced to the SmartCraft 2.5 electronic controls system and the G3 diagnostic tool. This course is a stand-alone course and does not require the technician to be qualified in any previous marine product however B.E.T.T., Insite and a variety of Cummins Virtual College and online training courses are required prerequisites (see smart program guide) 5.0 Days (6 students) $1500.00 2011-15Q ISX15 Mid-Stop Counterbore Ledge Cutting Qual This course was created for the technician already qualified on the ISX/QSX 15 liter engine. Recent issues with the cylinder head to engine block joint/head gasket seal, has resulted in the discovery of potential defects with the midstop Counterbore ledge on some ISX15 cylinder blocks. Machining the Counterbore ledge is the only accepted method of correcting the defect. This course will teach the technician proper tool assembly and inspection along with proper procedure and techniques for precisely machining the mid-stop Counterbore ledge to proper specifications. This course is not mandatory for Cummins ISX qualified technicians. However, if it becomes necessary to repair a Counterbore issue on a ISX15 engine block, a qualified technician MUST perform the repair. If a ISX15 qualified technician has not completed the mid-stop Counterbore machinist qualification course, his/her qualification status will turn yellow. However this will not affect the technician's ability to perform warranty repairs not associated with the Counterbore defect. The technician's status will remain yellow indefinitely or until such time as the technician completes the machinist qualification. 4.0 Days (6 students) $1200.00 14
