4 Principal Features of Touchclave-Lab Sterilizers Selecting an autoclave is an important long-term investment decision. Choosing the right sterilization system will have a positive impact on performance and efficiency. The Touchclave-Lab range is provided with a host of features specifically designed to improve throughput and performance. Standards Touchclave-Lab sterilizers are built to BS2646:1993, BS3970. All pressure vessels comply with the European PED 97/23/EC and are independently tested to PD5500:2000 Cat. 3 along with other international standards. LTE also supplies sterilizers to meet the requirements of many other standards and guidelines, including HTM2010 and HTM2031, EN285, cgmp and EN12347. Chamber Water Jacket Cooling System Steam Jacket (optional) Cooling Fans ( F models only) Door and Door Seal Steam Generating Methods Made from 316L grade stainless steel. Fully compliant with the European pressure equipment directive 97/23/EC. Independently certified to PD5500:2000 Cat. 3. Complete with a 10 year/15,000 cycle warranty. Speeds up the cooling stage of the sterilization cycle - fitted as standard on all K models and as an option on F models. This feature can be added to K models. The steam jacket keeps the chamber hot in between cycles, speeds up cycles and assists during the drying stage by flashing-off residual water in or around the load. Fan cooling is fitted as standard on F models. It is designed to be capable of operating in areas where water and drainage are not available. A water jacket cooling system is an optional alternative to fan cooling on F models. All models incorporate a fully interlocked vertical easy-glide sliding door. A floating door gasket is employed which ensures a perfect door seal. This seal is automatically retracted from the door at the end of each cycle, thus reducing risk of damage to the seal. Out-of-chamber steam source on K models is provided either by an integral steam generator positioned beneath the chamber, or by the customer s own direct steam supply. Alternatively the F models have an in-chamber water heating system to generate steam. Control System Touchscreen multi-program system. See page 10 for details This is a useful feature which allows real time information to be viewed by our technical and service team, thus minimizing potential down time. An Armour-flex Type-T thermocouple is fitted in all models to activate the sterilizing timer. Controlling by pressure ensures excellent accuracy (typically +/-0.5 C) and almost undetectable overshoot.
5 Pneumatic Solenoids and Valves Safety locks Water Conservation Exhaust Condensate Unit Combined Vacuum and Air Ballast System (optional) Effluent Retention (optional) Performance and reliability are the main advantages for using these types of solenoids and valves. A quiet 6-bar compressor with receiver is included as standard. The door is prevented from opening unless the safe load temperature has been reached and the pressure has dropped to atmospheric pressure. As required in HTM2010, the temperature safety lock is totally independent of the control system. All K models and water-jacketed F models incorporate a water tank, which re-circulates the cooling water until it reaches a pre-set temperature when it is then drained and replaced. This feature significantly reduces water usage during the cycle. A re-circulating exhaust condensate unit is fitted on all K models, enabling discharge water temperatures to be kept below 70 C to avoid damage to plastic pipes and the environment. On vacuum models this feature also serves to protect the vacuum pump from live steam. This unique system incorporates a high-efficiency liquid ring pump, providing a pre and post sterilization vacuum for improved air removal, effective drying and faster cycles. In addition, the pump also provides an air ballast facility for the fast and effective cooling of sealed fluids. Note: Air ballast can be provided on it s own if required. 6 Touchclave Touchscreen Systems at the Heart of Every Touchclave-Lab Sterilizer Touchclave-Lab sterilizers are equipped with a control system which incorporates a powerful PLC combined with an easy to use Touchscreen through which all commands, cycle data, program data and alarms are inputted and displayed. This versatile system gives users a choice of selecting from a menu of load-specific cycles or developing their own cycle profile. Eight cycles can be stored into the memory as standard and optional memory expansion is available to increase the number of available cycles to Forty. Load Specific Cycles - Load-specific cycles are selected by pressing the appropriate on-screen cycle icon and then following the on-screen instructions. The cycles are pre-programmed to optimise air removal and cooling profiles for each load type. The only parameters which then require operator input are; sterilizing temperature, sterilizing time, cooling temperature, boosted heat-up and print intervals. There are also the options to change the cycle title, select the user level to run and approve cycles and to specify whether batch codes are required. Customised Cycles - By selecting an empty cycle slot on the screen, you may create your own cycle using one of the preset cycle templates. This allows you to tailor the autoclave to your specific cycle needs. Once the programs are stored in the memory, starting the cycle could not be easier. Pressing the start button brings a cycle menu up on screen, allowing the required cycle to be selected. If the cycle has been configured to be traceable, there is a prompt to input operator ID and Batch information at this stage. There is also a facility to program a delayed automatic cycle start, which is particularly useful for maximising the use of the sterilizer. During the cycle, information is constantly displayed on the Touchscreen. Every stage of the cycle carries a different information screen. A fully integrated thermal paper printer or chart recorder is available as an option, if a hard copy printout is required. Internal data archiving is available as standard where up to 5000 cycles are stored and may be reprinted or viewed on screen whenever required this is also available with a PC link where the cycles may be viewed live with cycle traces, full cycle history and current machine status. RS232 is suitable for standalone machines, whilst RS485 is required when several machines are to have a remote data archive link to a common PC. On completing a successful cycle, the screen will show the Passed display. If a fault occurs during the cycle, Failed will be displayed on the screen, with fault details highlighted on a separate screen. This can be accessed by the operator, but only acknowledged by those with a supervisor access code. All fault conditions will also be printed where applicable. Touchclave Touchscreen Systems incorporate a self-diagnostic system, which will highlight any abnormality in the cycle. As an option, a modem can be fitted to the control system to allow our technical team to view real-time cycle data from a remote location, enabling us in many cases to advise quickly on operational issues, thus minimising possible down-time.
7 Data Archiving All Touchclave-Lab models are equipped with automatic electronic data archiving. The longterm storage of thermionic records for sterilisation operations is an area of growing concern to both operators and administrators. Therefore all Touchclave Touchscreen Systems include an internal data storage facility, which allows up to 5000 cycles to be stored on a single flash-card. As an option, a remote cycle data archiving facility can be added so that all cycle data, including any fault or alarm conditions, can be downloaded to a PC and permanently recorded. Main features of Touchclave data archiving: As Standard Cycle data and status are stored within the PLC Controller. Dependent on the configuration, up to 5000 cycles may be recorded here. The internal storage medium is easily replaced either periodically or when full. The recorded cycle data and status include checksum data to facilitate and protect data validation. A new cycle cannot be started until the data from the previous cycle has been recorded. As an Option Cycle data may be downloaded to a remote personal computer, translated and formatted into HTML files, and either printed or permanently archived. During each transfer, the integral Touchclave checksum is verified, ensuring that the original data has not been corrupted or modified. The transfer of data stored with the Touchclave System is automatically started whenever the associated PC application is launched. The PC does not need to be on-line during autoclaving. Once the cycle data is stored on the PC, it may be browsed by date and summary information may be displayed. The data can also be used by management to review autoclave workload and working practice. 8 Touchclave-Lab Sterilizers K150, K200 and K300 Models K models are designed to operate using either an integral steam generator situated beneath the chamber or the customer s own direct steam supply. To facilitate easy manoeuvrability and site positioning, all models are fitted with castors and will fit through a standard door. 9 Touchclave-Lab Sterilizers F150, F200 and F300 Models F models have been designed to offer a good level of standard features at a more affordable price. On this range, steam is generated within the chamber. Therefore water inside the chamber needs to be topped up periodically, either manually or automatically. Low-level water sensors will prevent the cycle from starting should there be insufficient water. All models are fitted with castors and will fit through standard doors. 10 Options and Accessories Vacuum/Air Ballast offers great benefits when processing most load types. LTE s unique system incorporates a high efficiency liquid ring vacuum pump, which will provide vacuum levels of 50mbarA within the chamber. The pre-vacuum stage offers negative/positive pulsing, whilst the post vacuum stage provides a choice of deep drawn or pulsed vacuum plus an optional drying cycle. An added bonus of this unique system is that you also get air ballast as part of the package. This feature allows sealed fluids to be cooled quickly without risk of boiling over or breakage. On K models with integral steam generators, this option includes an upgrade to a constant standby generator, which provides steam on demand during the air removal stage, thus significantly reducing overall cycle times. Air Ballast The air ballast feature can be provided without vacuum either by upgrading the built in compressor or by utilising the customer s own compressed air supply. Steam Jacket Upgrade ( K models) To enhance your system further, all K models fitted with a vacuum air ballast system can have the jackets upgraded to water and steam jackets. Steam jackets are used to assist the drying stage by flashing-off residual water in or around the load. Steam jackets also keep the chamber walls hot between cycles, thus reducing overall cycle times. Water Jacket Upgrade ( F models) Water jackets assist in the cooling process and are ideally suited to liquid cycles. This option replaces the standard cooling fan. Water supply and drain required. Effluent Retention When processing cat. 3 loads, operator safety is of optimum importance. Our system returns all liquids back to the chamber for sterilization before being exhausted. All non-condensable gases pass through a 0.2 µ microbiological filter before being discharged. This option should only be ordered in conjunction with a vacuum system. It is also recommended that an automatic leak rate cycle be included where cat. 3 material is being processed. Automatic Leak-Rate Cycle (Vacuum models) This cycle tests the air tightness of the chamber. Any ingress of air outside permitted levels will cause an alarm to be displayed on the Touchscreen. Printer Options LTE provides electronic data archiving as standard. However we can offer one or a combination of the following options for those who also want a hard copy printout after each cycle: Thermal Printout This printer uses thermal paper which has a 15 year shelf life. Tractor Printer Chart Recorders The advantage of this printer is that it can be placed externally to the sterilizer. Various types of chart recorders, including the latest paperless models can be fitted to all Touchclave-Lab autoclaves. Modem Adding this option provides the facility to connect your autoclave directly into our Technical office. This allows us to interrogate the system and view real time cycle data, enabling us to advise on operational issues without visiting site and to minimise possible down-time. Volt-Free Contacts This option allows alarm and condition signals from the autoclave to be transmitted to remote monitoring stations, auto-diallers or building management systems. Constant Standby Steam Generator ( K models) Non-vacuum models can be fitted with this option, which will shorten cycle times and thus increase potential daily throughput. Automatic Water-Fill ( F models) With high and low level sensors, this system tops up the water level before each cycle and provides additional low level monitoring.
