5 OBJECTIVES The establishment of common methodologies for the implementation of reduced input agriculture in both countries The use and implementation of modern technology for encouraging Good Agricultural Practices on the areas Pilot implementation of operations for future use and evaluation for the rural population of the cross border region. Increase in product quality

MAIN ACTIVITIES Establishment of a telemetric network for transmitting harmonized field data Development of an decision support system (DSS) for reduced input farming applications Delivery of common implementation protocols for effective farm planning and management Education and training of Greek and Bulgarian farmers 6

7 EXPECTED BENEFITS Maximization of production by identifying the areas of reduced productivity and managing them in a different way compared to the whole field Through reduced input operations farmers are conformed with European Directives that require them to comply with legislative rules concerning farm management and environmental issues Economical improvement of crop production through the reduced usage of fertilizers applied and water Provision of opportunities for better resource management and reduction of wastage Minimization of the risk to the environment particularly with respect to nitrate leaching and groundwater contamination via the optimization of agrochemical products Increase in product quality and yield stability.

8 EXPECTED BENEFITS Numerous data to be used Prevention of environmental degradation in areas of great ecological value Basis for revision of the AGRO 2 to include certification practices reduced input agriculture. Increased commercial value of dynamic products (asparagus, kiwi, etc.) through this certification. Creation of Cluster Helpdesk Support for Aristotle s University and Interbalkan Environment Center
