Samsung Repp Bootloader Update Instructions Samsung has released a Bootloader Update for the Samsung Repp (SCH-R680) to correct a network connectivity issue. Please follow the instructions below to download and install the Update Tool using your Windows PC. This Update is only valid for the ntelos Wireless Samsung Repp ; it is incompatible with all other models. Requirements for Using the Update Tool Computer Desktop/Laptop computer running either Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, or XP 4 Currently, there is no support for Apple computers All firewall & anti-virus programs should be disabled Administrative privileges required to download & install software including drivers An available USB port on the PC that supports 2.0 USB Phone Fully charged battery Other USB data cable (included in Retail Box) Note: this is the same cable used to charge your device. Available USB Port. 4 Direct connection of the USB cable to the computer s USB port is strongly advised. The use of a USB hub or docking station is NOT recommended. Your PC must be connected to a live internet connection to download the Update Tool. IMPORTANT The bootloader update process will not update the Android OS version of the Repp. The Repp is powered by Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread. The OS will continue to be the same after the update process. Back-up Your Data Before proceeding with the update process, Back-up/Synch your data to maintian: Calendar Events Contacts E-mail Accounts Messages Important: Synch your Gmail, Corporate Microsoft Exchange, and/or POP3 e-mail accounts. Please ensure that all critical information has been Backed-up before applying this update. By syncing your Google Gmail information and Exchange Mail accounts, you are backing up your information. Pictures, music, video, and files are stored on your microsd Memory Card, by removing your microsd memory card before you start the update process you ensure safeguarding this information.
Samsung Repp Bootloader Update Instructions page 2 Back-up Recommendations Google Gmail 4 From the Home screen, select Menu à Settings à Accounts & Sync. 4 Select your Google account and checkmark the boxes for mail, contacts and calendar to enable synchronization. 4 Select Sync now. Exchange Mail 4 From the Home screen, select Menu à Settings à Accounts & Sync. 4 Select your Exchange Mail account and checkmark the boxes for mail, contacts and calendar to enable synchronization. 4 Select Sync now. Save Contacts to SD Card 4 Go to your contact lists People à Menu à Import/Export. 4 Select Export to SD card. 4 Confirm export by selecting OK. After the upgrade, you can log back into your Google Gmail and Exchange Mail accounts to retrieve your information. IMPORTANT: you will need your user name and password. Write them down so you do not forget: Google Gmail Username Password Did you forget your password? For assistance with recovering your Gmail password go to http://www.google.com/accounts/recovery. Corporate Exchange Account Username Password For assistance with your corporate Exchange account, contact your IT support desk. Google Play You can manage your library of applications from the Google Play website. Go to https://play.google.com/store and login with your Google Gmail information. Select My ANDROID APPS to view your list of applications. Browse for new applications to install for FREE or buy.

To obtain a copy of the Upgrade Tool, download the file from support page link, www.ntelos.com/repp-bu under Samsung Repp Bootloader Update Tool. 2. Save the file to a specified location. We recommend Desktop for easy access. Step 2: Installing Upgrade Tool Important: We highly recommend that you uninstall all Samsung software or Samsung drivers from your PC before beginning the installation. 1. Double click the SimpleDL file. The program will install the Upgrade Tool on your computer. 2. Select Next > to continue.

If directed to Restart computer, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and select Finish. 5. Please Notice the new icon that has been installed on your Desktop.
Samsung Repp Bootloader Update Instructions page 5 Step 3: Device Updating 1. Click on the Update Tool icon on your Desktop. 2. After reading the End User License Agreement, check the button I accept the terms in the license agreement. and then select Next. 3. A warning will prompt you to synchronize the data on your mobile device and to charge your battery fully before proceeding with the update. Refer to Back-up Your Data on page 1 for instructions on backing-up/synching your data. Select Next after these steps have been performed.
Samsung Repp Bootloader Update Instructions page 6 4. Remove the battery from the device, then put the battery back in the device. Select Next. 5. To update the device, simultaneously press and hold the Volume Up key and Power key. Hold until the following screen appears. Select Next.
Samsung Repp Bootloader Update Instructions page 7 6. Press the Volume Up key to place the device in Download Mode. Select Next. 7. Attach the USB cable from the computer to the mobile device. Select Next.
Samsung Repp Bootloader Update Instructions page 8 8. Press Start Software Download button to start the update process. 9. Please do not disconnect the USB cable from the computer or the mobile device. The mobile device may be inoperable if disconnected during the update process.

After the software update, the phone will restart. 13. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and the mobile device. Congratulations, your Samsung Repp bootloader is now updated.
