In addition to the general Master of Arts in Education program, Walsh offers three specialty tracks to choose from. Track1: Reading Literacy Teachers who are highly qualified in the area of language arts are in high demand as literacy expectations continue to increase. The Reading Literacy Track serves to strengthen a teacher s competency, making them extremely valuable in the area of reading proficiency. The program prepares experienced teachers to plan literacy programs appropriate for children of varying levels of ability. Track 2: Leadership with Principal License The Leadership with Principal License Track is designed for current teachers seeking to enhance their leadership potential with an educational organization. Students will be taught by experienced leaders in education to prepare them for current issues effecting today s principals. Note: If you are a licensed teacher and you have your teacher leader endorsement or your Master of Arts in Education degree, you may qualify for a greatly reduced curriculum towards this degree. Technology has infused the educational system, and the importance of preparing teachers for these emerging technologies is critical. Be ahead of the technology curve by obtaining an MAED with a focus in 21st Century Technologies to keep current with technology and aid in preparing students for these technological demands. *Also available as a certificate program.

Walsh also offers an online Teacher Leader Endorsement program that is available to any licensed teacher in Ohio with at least 4 years of teaching experience. Completion of the teacher leader endorsement program will enable an individual who holds a valid Ohio teaching license to add the teacher leader endorsement to his or her teaching credentials. Both endorsement programs could be completed within one year. There are also numerous education workshops offered throughout the summer semester for continuing education credit. 5 WALSH UNIVERSITY Admission Requirements Persons with bachelor s degrees from accredited colleges, with promising scholastic standing, and with personal and professional potential, will be considered for admission to the Division of Education Graduate Program. Requirements for admission as a matriculated student in the Master of Arts in Education Program: Completed application form, accompanied by a non-refundable application/registration fee of $25. Official transcript(s) of undergraduate and other graduate study sent directly from the applicant s college(s) to Graduate Admissions at Walsh University. Transcripts are not necessary for Walsh University graduates. A minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) is required for admission to the program. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) (290 minimum score-new scale) or Miller s Analogy Test (MAT) (396 minimum score). Institution number is 1926. Writing sample. Notarized Affidavit of Good Moral Character. Recommendations by three unrelated persons qualified to appraise scholastic aptitude and personal and professional promise. Interview with the Director of Graduate Education Studies in the Division of Education. Copy of Teaching License (if a licensed teacher.) Other tuition discounts are available for full-time Diocesan employees, graduate assistants, Walsh faculty, staff and eligible dependents, and senior citizens. MAEd program discounts Walsh Alumni Tuition Discounts Graduates of Walsh University are eligible for a 25 percent discount for graduate courses in the Master of Arts in Education program. Licensure Program Discount Students of the Licensure in Education for Adults with Degrees (LEAD) program will receive a tuition discount for all undergraduate classes taken. This does not apply to students eligible for and accepting other discounts. Diocesan Discount A 50% discount is available to all full time employees of the Diocese. Other Discounts Other tuition discounts are available for full-time Diocesan employees, graduate assistants, Walsh faculty, staff and eligible dependents, and senior citizens.
