Prof. Yehuda Kahane Head of the Alfred Akirov Institute for Business & the Environment Elad Shaviv Host of the Israeli Competition Sponsored by: Invite you to enter Global Clean Tech Open IDEAS Competition Making the world clean and green, one idea at a time. We are pleased to invite you to submit your ideas to the Global Clean Tech Open IDEAS Competition, taking place as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (www.gew.org.il), an initiative that last year took place in over 100 countries and engaged more than 7 million participants, between November 14 and 19, 2010. The Global Clean Tech Open IDEAS Competition The Clean Tech Open is the world's largest clean technology business competition. Israel is joining the competition for the third time this year, a global competition for exciting new clean technologies and ideas. We're looking for the best clean tech ideas from around the world - anything from revolutionary ways to generate clean energy to better water filtration to ideas about how governmental policies around climate change can foster new businesses in one of the competition categories. If you are an entrepreneur with a great green idea, this is your chance to share it with the world! The Israeli Referee panel: Jack Levy - Partner at Israel Cleantech Ventures Dr. Harold Wiener - Partner at Terra Ventures Itay Zetelny- Partner at Ernst & Young Dr. Noam Gressel CEO of Assif Strategies Eran Yarkoni CEO of Capital Nature Competition Schedule 2011 Global Clean Tech Open IDEAS Competition Last day to submit your idea/team is Sunday, October 9th, 17:00pm (Israel time). National winner will be announced on Sunday, October 30th. Video Presentations for National Finalists are due on November 8th (the video needs to be approved by the Israeli board). National Winners video presented and compete for Global Award in San Francisco (15/16 Nov.) For further inquiries please contact us at: ilcleantech@gmail.com

Enter the IDEAS Competition Today! 1. Obtain a user account at http://www.cleantechopen.com/app.cgi/content/competition/ideas/ Make sure you have selected ISRAEL, as winners will be chosen by countries. 2. Enter and get started on developing your IDEA by completing your Success Paragraph. You will be able to edit and re-submit your entry until the submission deadline. 3. Develop a 5-minute talk to outline your idea, using Pitch guidelines below. This pitch will be used if you are elected as the national winner, and possibly on the national finalists session. Contestants From Around the Globe To Pitch An IDEA To enter the competition, all you need to do is tell us briefly about your idea. National winners will go on to have their IDEA judged at the annual Clean Tech Open Awards Gala in San Francisco, California on 17 November. The National Finalists will record a five minute video "pitch" that will be played to a live audience of 2,500 clean tech experts, investors, and enthusiasts and press from around the world. Judging at the Global event will done as the People s Choice a vote of the audience in attendance. The Global Winner will receive at least $100,000 worth of startup services from seasoned experts in Silicon Valley and elsewhere. Eligibility All entries must be a startup that has received less than $500,000 in external private financing at the time of competition entry. Grant funding and any money from friends and family are excluded from this $500,000 limit. Categories You will need to select one of the cleantech categories below: Air Water & Waste Ways to cut pollution Air Water & Waste category entries focus on improving resource availability, conservation and pollution control. Air covers services, instruments and equipment related to emission control, treatment or reduction technologies. Also included are creative approaches to greenhouse gas reduction, including carbon conversion and sequestration. Water covers treatment, storage and monitoring, recycling and conservation technologies. Waste covers waste management equipment; sorting; resource recovery processes; pollution prevention, control, and treatment technology; as well as waste reduction through innovative recycling processes and creation of new recyclable materials, such as bio-based plastics. Storm-water and flood control, rainwater harvesting Smart irrigation Water filtration and disinfection Advanced filters and filtration (air or water) Carbon and GHG monitoring and control Carbon capture sequestration, storage Waste cleanup and remediation

Energy Efficiency More efficient methods and devices The Energy Efficiency category comprises technology that can significantly reduce wasted energy and help to lessen the need for additional power plants. Examples include advanced light sources and controls, smart / user-friendly energy management systems, energyefficient water heaters and other appliances, high-efficiency industrial process systems, motors, pumps, and advanced space heating and cooling systems. Industrial process improvements Natural gas monitoring and control (industrial or residential) LED lighting Advanced lighting controls HVAC solutions Utility scale natural gas controls Renewable Energy Replacements for fossil fuels The Renewable Energy category includes innovations that use, enable and accelerate the migration to renewable energy. Renewables encompass technologies that use waste streams to directly produce energy. Examples include low-emission power sources, such as solar, biofuels, wind, wave and tidal energy and hydropower. Solar for energy production Thin film solar manufacture Concentrating solar PV Biobased fuels Hydropower Advanced fluid flow designs Wind power technologies Green Building New kinds of buildings or materials The Green Building category focuses on reducing the environmental impact of building construction or operation through improved design or construction practices, new or innovative use of building materials, or new hardware or software applications. Technologies are applied directly to the built environment. Examples include water management systems, reduction of hazardous materials in building construction or operation, use of new environmentally friendly or recycled materials, systems to improve indoor environmental quality and systems for improved waste reduction or disposal.

Insulation materials Cement alternatives Indoor air filtration systems Disaster relief and modular housing Low VOC carpeting and flooring Water saving toilets, showers, plumbing Recycled materials for use in building material Smart Power, Green Grid, Energy Storage Better ways of carrying electricity or storing it The Smart Power, Green Grid and Energy Storage category encourages links between information technologies and electricity delivery that give industrial, commercial and residential consumers greater control over when and how their energy is delivered and used. It includes improvements in all forms of energy storage, from battery technology for consumer-scale products to large chemical, metal, biological or other approaches to storage of utility-scale energy, as well as methods for controlling or increasing the efficiency of energy storage or energy transmission. Examples include wireless metering and use of realtime pricing information, intelligent sensors, batteries, fuel cells, fly-wheels, and advanced materials or systems for energy transmission, such as hardware and software controls. Real-time power monitoring Network architecture for power management Hydrogen storage Battery form factor improvements Advanced fuel cell membranes Power storage Transmission efficiency Transportation Greener cars, buses, trucks or planes The Transportation category encompasses transportation and mobile technology applications that improve fuel efficiency, reduce air pollution, reduce oil consumption or reduce vehicle travel (not limited to automobiles). Technologies are applied directly to transportation systems or vehicles. Pitch Tips for Contestants Make an impact in your first minute! Use a strong, memorable opening statement Summarize your idea in 15-30 words Plan your presentation to make it follow a logical sequence Be entertaining and unique, tell a story, but stay focused on the major points of your idea Time your pitch so it is 3-5 minutes. Shorter is often more effective. Speak confidently, and look into the camera Remember to pause occasionally and to breathe normally Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse! If using Powerpoint slides or other visual aids: o Use no more than eight (8) slides o Keep slides simple and graphical o Use a maximum of five (5) word per line, and six (6) lines per slide o Use 30 point type o Remember that YOU are the presentation not the slides Be enthusiastic! End your presentation on a positive upbeat note
