Competition Rules Art.1 Nuova Xilografia in collaboration with the National Library Braidense, with Lions Clubs International District 108 Ia1, with Vecchiantico AB Collezionismo and under the auspices of the AIE, advertises the International Ex Libris Competition. Art.2 The Competition is open to all artists. Participation is free of charge. Art.3 The theme is: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. Art.4 Number of works. Each artist may take part with a maximum of three (3) works. Each of which must be in at least five (5) signed copies. All ex libris should give the following information (written, in pencil, on the reverse side): full name and address of the artist, year of execution, dimensions of the engraved part, technique used, and title (the information must be written with European characters). Art.5 Only entries made using the traditional techniques of the original graphic art (chalcography, xylography, lithography and silkscreen) will be accepted for the Competition. Entries made using other techniques will not be evaluated in the Competition. The Ex Libris entries should: - represent the theme of the Competition: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life - be printed on paper no larger than A5 (148mm x 210mm), the printed area must have no largher than 100 mm x 130mm. Art.6 In the bookplate, as well as the name of the owner of the Ex Libris, person or institution, must include the words: Ex Libris EXPO 2015 (or E. L. EXPO 2015 ) Art.6bis In addition to E. L. Art.7 The Ex Libris must be sent by Letter, by 12.00 noon on 15th January, 2015, date of the postmark, to the following address: Mostra Concorso di Ex Libris Smens - Nuova Xilografia via Giotto 10 10086 RIVAROLO CANAVESE (TO) ITALIA Art.8 The members of the Jury are: Ugo Nespolo president, Adriano Benzi, Enrico Baitone, Gian Carlo Torre, Lorella Carletto, Gianni Verna and Gianfranco Schialvino. The entries, once accepted by the Jury, will be selected for publication in a Catalogue and displayed. The Jury will select 10 finalists among the works. The selected works will be awarded with an honorary diploma, and will ultimately be voted the winner of the sum of 1000 (mille), Primo Premio unico ed indivisibile and the winner of the sum of 500 (cinquecento), Premio Lions Distretto 108 Ia1 and finally the winner of the sum of 500 (cinquecento), Premio Vecchiantico A B Collezionismo The catalog of the works reproduced will be sent: - All participants in digital format (Pdf) - In volume to the selected artists whose bookplate will be published Art.9 Destination of the works. All works submitted will remain the property of: - Lions Clubs International District 108 Ia1 - Vecchiantico AB Collezionismo - Smens New Woodcut - And may be freely reproduced. Will be published in the Catalog, invitations, posters and flyers and as illustrations of a book (yet to be defined in the project). Art.10 The official announcement of the winner and prizegivings will take place during the inauguration of the exhibition "The food in the Ex Libris" Maria Teresa at the Hall of the National Library Braidense Milan April 20, 2015.
Art.11 Only entries with all the above requisites will be evaluated in the Competition. All those missing one or more of these requisites will not be considered.
