If they have questions you cannot answer, please contact us. Q. What is a direct deposit ACH Credit? A. Direct deposit is a quick, easy and secure method of receiving funds into your account. ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. For example, you can receive payroll, government benefits, income tax returns and investment dividends by direct deposit. Small business owners can also receive credit card settlements and accounts receivable payments. The funds are securely received and deposited electronically into your bank account. Q. When will my direct deposits start? A. It normally takes 2 to 3 cycles to start a new direct deposit. For example, your paycheck may not be direct deposited for 2 3 cycles, depending on how long it takes your employer to process the switch request. This typically applies for new and existing direct deposit requests, so you will need to keep your current account(s) open until you know your new First Community account is receiving your deposits. Q. How can I verify that my automatic payments and deposits are being made? A. First Community offers 24-hour customer service through our automated direct teller. With this free service you can access all your accounts, verify your balance and deposits, check the last six posted transactions, transfer funds and inquire about loan balances and payments. Access the direct teller at (256) 737-8937. In addition, First Community offers free online banking. This free service also allows you to access all your accounts, verify balances and deposits, view posted transactions, pay bills (with free online bill pay), transfer funds and much more. Q. Can I switch my small business account? A. You can switch your small business account using the same forms. As a small business owner, you ll need to remember to keep a sufficient amount of money in your current account until the entire process is complete and confirmed.
