3 1.0 Getting Started 1.1 Introduction The Product Catalogue CD allows you to view information regarding International Paint s marine coatings products offline, including product data sheets and safety advice sheets. You can view the information direct from the CD or it can be installed onto your PC s hard drive, enabling you to update the catalogue when you have access to an internet connection. 1.2 System Requirements In order to use the Product Catalogue, you will need the following minimum hardware and software: Intel Pentium II 450MHz, AMD Athlon 600MHz or faster processor (or equivalent). 128MB of RAM. 128MB of Video RAM. Microsoft Windows XP or later. Performance is improved as the hardware specifications are increased. To make use of the online features, you will need to have access to the Internet (ideally 256Mbps or faster) 1.3 The Catalogue Interface The Product Catalogue CD uses a Flash-based executable file (.exe) that allows you to filter against a set of products, the results of which are displayed on screen. The mouse is used almost exclusively to navigate through the catalogue. The keyboard is used only to construct e-mail enquiries from the catalogue, or to interact with the International Paint s marine coatings website (http://www.international-marine.com) if the appropriate links are clicked.
4 2.0 Using the Catalogue TOP MENU VERSION NUMBER PRODUCT SELECTION MENU BOTTOM MENU 2.1 Top Menu 2.1.1 Products There are two options available to you, these are offered as a sub-menu that appears when you hover over Products.
5 2.1.1.1 View products Selecting View products displays the product search box. By filtering each category, you limit the results to your requirements. You can filter your search by brand, vessel area, product category or chemistry. In some combinations you will not find products, e.g. using Interbond as the brand filter and Topsides and Superstructures as the Vessel Area filter, there is no match for the combination. 2.1.1.2 Safety advice sheets Selecting Safety advice sheets (SAS) displays the list of SAS for products listed in the catalogue. These contain basic health, safety and environmental information that is important for the actual user of the product. For any not listed, please consult International Paint. Note: SAS do not replace the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). The link to each SAS will open up your internet browser and display a PDF file. You do not need to be connected to the Internet to view the file, but you will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer. A copy of the Adobe Reader setup file is supplied on the CDROM ( AdbeRdr910_en_US.exe in the Adobe Reader folder use Windows Explorer to locate it), or browse to http://www.adobe.com and click on the Get Adobe Reader link button on the home page to download the latest, or a non-english language

There is a toolbar above the datasheet that allows you to scroll, zoom in/out and print the datasheet if required. It also allows you to search within the datasheet using keywords if you need to find a particular item of information. Clicking the red arrow button to the right of the datasheet closes the product browser window and returns you to the results screen. 23 3.0 Troubleshooting 3.1 Common Issues In order to run the Product Catalogue installer, you are required to be either an Administrator, or have been granted Administrator privileges, as the process of installation (insertion of executable programs) needs this elevation of security permissions. Users of Windows Vista will also need to allow the installation process to run, as normal users have permissions restricted by default. Users who have their PCs maintained by corporate Help Desks may have to request the installation of Product Catalogue if their PCs are locked down to prevent manual installation of programs. The Product Catalogue has been thoroughly checked for viruses and whilst we can take no responsibility for any inclusion of viruses in the CDROM, certain Antivirus or Firewall products may interfere with the running of the Product Catalogue. We recommend that you allow the Product Catalogue to run under the rules of your Antivirus or Firewall program. Adobe Reader (or an equivalent product) is required to view any PDF material present on the CDROM and installer folders. Not having Adobe Reader (or equivalent product) installed that will allow you to read PDF files will result in some form of error, or a lack of action when trying to view the files. 3.2 Logging a Support Request You can use the Contact Us option in the Product Catalogue to send us an email asking for support. Alternatively, if the Product Catalogue is not working correctly to allow you to use the feature, you can send an e-mail directly to us at Marine.Communication@AkzoNobel.com. Please include Product Catalogue in the subject line so that we address your problem more quickly. You can also contact your local International Paint representative.
