SATURDAY 10th JANUARY 2015 SUNDAY 11th JANUARY 2015 U10 Tournament U8 Tournament + U9 Tournament BORCHLAND/ Amstelhall www.borchland.nl
WELCOME Dear participant / visitor, I hereby welcome you to the second edition of Amsterdam Youth Indoor, which will take place in the Amstelhall of our neighbor, event centre Borchland. We started conservatively and on a national scale last year, with the participation of Dutch amateurclubs and a number of professional clubs. Among them were Ajax U8, U9 and U10. The success of the first edition has motivated us to continue. Therefore, we have chosen to take this event to the next level this year in terms of scale and a more professional organization. It is with great pride that we can now present a wonderful participation, consisting of the elite clubs in The Netherlands and Belgium, as well as three great clubs from the English Premier League, who will join the U10 tournament. In addition, three qualification events have taken place on Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of January, all at the same location, in which Ajax partnerclubs played for tickets to the main events. Parallel, three qualification tournaments were organized in Belgium. The qualifiers from these six tournaments for the U8, U9 en U10 age groups will now join the elite clubs. The result is a unique participation of the best elite ánd amateurclubs from both countries. In record time, Amsterdam Youth Indoor has grown into the largest futsal tournament for the lower age groups in the Benelux. One of the pillars of the new Ajax academy vision is to promote and facilitate playing and training in smaller spaces and on different surfaces (street and futsal). Both are effective tools to improve the basic technical and movement skills, as well as quicker decision making. We are convinced that indoor soccer or futsal contributes to the development of a better football player, especially among the lower age groups. I am filled with pride witnessing that we have managed to provide so many young talents with a unique opportunity to experience futsal at the highest and international level in such a short timeframe. Thanks to this initiative, a rich Amsterdam tradition of youth futsal is now experiencing a strong revival. And let s not forget that Amsterdam Youth Indoor has been organized via international cooperation, which makes it even more special. My thanks and compliments go out to all partners, sponsors, volunteers and organisers involved who have made this project possible. I wish you lots of success and good sportsmanship. And please do not forget the most important thing in football: to have fun and enjoy the game! Wim Jonk Head of the Academy AFC Ajax
