For racially and ethnically diverse women in at-risk communities, the need for passionate, strong voices in healthcare is critical. That s why we invite women to apply for one of the 16 scholarships of $2,500 that will be awarded through the Go Red Multicultural Scholarship Fund. Now in its fourth year in 2013-2014, the scholarship aims to help close the gaps in both treatment and access to a more affordable education for women of diverse backgrounds. Applicants must: Be a female of Hispanic, African-American or other minority origin Be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident of the United States Be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, health care institution or program in the U.S. Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) DCFS Scholarship Program http://www.youthincare.illinois.gov/education/youthinscholarship.htm The DCFS Scholarship Program provides a maximum of 48 scholarships each year; four of which are awarded to children of veterans. Youth who the Department has court-ordered legal responsibility for, youth who aged out of the Department s care at age 18 or older, youth that the Department had legal responsibility for prior to the youth s adoption being finalized, or youth that are in the Subsidized Guardianship or KinGap Program are eligible to apply for a DCFS Scholarship. Scholarship recipients receive up to four consecutive years of tuition and academic fee waivers to be used at participating Illinois state community colleges and universities, a monthly stipend and a medical card. Youth that graduated from high school in previous years or youth that are currently enrolled in college are eligible to apply for the Department scholarship. USDA/1890 NAT IONAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM APPLICAT ON DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 28, 2014 http://www.outreach.usda.gov/education/1890/, Through the USDA/1890 National Scholars Program, qualified students who are U.S. citizens may be awarded f ull tuition throughout their course of study if they attend one of the eighteen 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Institutions and pursue a bachelor s degree in any field of study in agriculture, food, natural resource sciences or other related disciplines. To be eligible for the USDA/1890 National Scholars Program scholarship, a student must: Be a U.S. citizen Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) Have been accepted for admission or currently attending one of the eighteen 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities. (Children being raised by relatives, who do NOT have legal guardianship or custody are considered homeless.) Criteria: Students who have not reached their 21st birthday by Sept. 1, 2012 and who have completed no more than one year of college may apply. Applicants may be high school seniors, students enrolled in GED or other alternative education programs, or recent graduates/ged recipients.
