Setting for the target device(termial of destination) Please check for the OS that supports the target device from our Product Web page (http://www.magicconnect.net/) [Product Overview] tab [MagicConnect of Teminal authentication type]] 2. Manage the power of the target device From [Start] - [Control Panel] - [System and Security] - [Power Options] - [Change time to put the computer to sleep], select [Put the computer to sleep] - "Plugged in: Never", then press "Save changes" button. The target device must be plugged in. Please note that MagicConnect can not be connected from outside the company if the target device is "sleeping". Please do the configurations by administrator s right. The settings are as follows. 1. Allow Remote Desktop connection to the target device 2. Manage the power of the target device 3. Install MagicConnect Client Software 4. Do initial configuration of MagicConnect Client Software and connection 5. Set waiting state 1. Allow Remote Desktop connection to the target device From [Start] - [Control Panel] - [System and Security]-[System: remote access permission], open System Properties. Then, select [Remote] tab, select [Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop] and press "OK" button If the target device is a laptop, it may go to sleep when you close the lid. Therefore, please do the following settings. From [Start] - [Control Panel] - [System and Security] - [Power Options] - [Change operation of Power Button], select "When I close the lid: Do nothing", then press "Save Changes" button. One point Please be sure to set password to Remote Users to log on to the target device. In addition, if Remote Users do not have administrator s right, please do the following settings. Press [User selection] of [Remote] tab, when [Remote Desktop Users] screen as below appears, press "Add" to register Remote Users to log on to the target device. 3. Install MagicConnect Client Software Copy "mcclient20_setup.exe" having in the downloaded package into the target device and run. Once setup program activates, press "Next" button. When Setup Completion screen appears, press "Finish" and delete "mcclient20_setup.exe" that was copied. For the network environment that uses Proxy for Internet connection, please set HTTP Proxy. Tick "Use proxy", enter the information of Proxy server that is being used in the network environment into "Host:" and "Port:". If you are using Proxy server authentication, tick "Use authentication" in addition, then enter the credentials for Proxy Server. 4. Do initial setting of MagicConnect Client Software and connection In task tray at the bottom right of Desktop screen of the target device, MagicConnect icon of flame mark with gray below is displayed, so right-click on the icon, when menu appears, select "Settings...". After that, press "Authentication Settings" button. The following user authentication screen will be displayed, so please enter account (user name) and temporary password of MagicConnect that was listed in "MagicConnect user account list", then press "OK" button Right click the icon For "Host:" and "Port:" of "server" of the following setting screen, enter MagicConnect server address and port number listed in [ MagicConnect Server URL] -[MagicConnect Client (target device) ] [If the beginning of the account is not the above one]of "MagicConnect User Account list", select "Connect to the server automatically and log in ". Finally, press "Apply" to save the settings. After finishing the above settings, right-click on the MagicConnect icon at the bottom right of desktop screen of the target device, when menu appears, select "Connect". Once the connection to MagicConnect server is completed, the icon of MagicConnect changes from gray to blue. Furthermore, if you place mouse over the icon, "Connection Waiting" will be displayed in the tool tip. At this status, you can connect to the target device form outside the company by MagicConnect. Right click icon Connection is completed! 5. Set waiting state For the target device that completes the connection, make it become waiting state by user switching/screen lock/logoff and become the status of not able to manipulate unless entering logon password for Windows. To eliminate the possibility of unauthorized access by spoofing from inside LAN to MagicConnect Quick Setup Manual - 2 - the target device caused by allowing Remote Desktop connection, it is recommended that you set up to allow access only by MagicConnect using multi-factor authentication. For NDL Plus Edition, connection screen of MagicConnect Viewer is only displayed when the quarantine status of your terminal is latest and safe. (In connection screen, name of [Antivirus protection] will be displayed.) The configuration can be done by user s right. The settings are as follows. 1. Install lmagicconnect Viewer Software 2. Do initial setting of MagicConnect Viewer and connection 3. End MagicConnect Viewer 4. Use Option tool Use auto connection tool "MC Assist" 1. Install MagicConnect Viewer Software Copy the installer "mcviewer20_setup~" having in the downloaded package to your terminal and run it. When the License Agreement screen appears, select "I agree to this license agreement" and press "Next". Remove the "mcviewer20_setup ~" installer that was copied In MagicConnect of Terminal authentication type, in order to prevent spoofing, in the first time of your connecting to MagicConnect server, the screen will be displayed to confirm whether or not register the information specific to the terminal which was set at the factory on the server. From the next time, it will not be able to connect except the combination of "Terminal that has specific information registered on the server" and "Windows user account that made the first time connection ( )". ( This is for making association to Windows user account and savimg the digital certificate to your terminal.) 2. Do initial setting of MagicConnect Viewer and connection From [Shortcut icon of desktop], or [Start]-[Program], please run shortcut icon of red flame mark: "MagicConnect2.0 Viewer" (incase of NDL) /"MagicConnect2.0 Viewer Plus " (in case of NDL Plus). If you use MagicConnect Viewer in the network environment that uses Proxy for Internet connection, please press [Settings] from connection screen and set HTTP Proxy. Remote Desktop Connection activates and Windows logon screen of the target device is displayed. In Windows logon screen, enter Windows user name, password of the target device and press " " button. After successful logon, desktop screen of the target device will be displayed and ready to use. Incase of setting Proxy that does not use PAC file for Internet Explorer even in the network environment that uses Proxy, it will automatically use Proxy to connect, remaining the initial state of ("Use Proxy" - "Use Internet Explorer Settings" is selected). If you have any troubles in connecting by initial state settings, please select "Manual settings", then enter the information of Proxy server that is being used in the network environment into "Host:" and "Port:". If you are using Proxy server authentication, please tick "Use Authentication" in addition, then enter the credentials for Proxy Server. Finally, press "OK" button. 3. End MagicConnect Viewer Here, we describe 2 methods to terminate remote desktop connection to the target device from your terminal. (Method 1) Move mouse cursor to the top of remote desktop screen, display the top bar of the trapezoid, press " " to close the screen. (Method 2) Press "Start" at the bottom left of desktop screen of the target device, when menu appears, press " " on the right of "Log Off", then select "Disconnect (D)". After successful login to MagicConnect server, main screen is displayed and list of the target devices that became "Connection Waiting" will be displayed in "Host" field. Here, select the target device that you want to connect from connection destination list, select "Remote Desktop" from [Connection method:] and press "Connect" button. 4. Use option tool Use automatic connection tool "MC Assist" If you use "MC Assist", the procedures from connecting MagicConnect from your terminal to the target device until displaying the logon screen will be performed automatically, and so that the usability is improved. Before setting "MC Assist" of this section, please be sure to satisfy the 1) to 3) below 1) Windows user account of your terminal must be set password. 2) If the OS of your terminal is Windows XP, it must become the configuration of "Do not keep LM hash". (The OS from Windows Vista or higher is having "Do not keep LM hash" be as default setting.) Below is the procedure to make it become "Do not keep LM hash," in Windows XP. 1Open [Control Panel] - [Management Tools] - [Local Security Policy] - [Local Policy] - [Security Options], then enable the displayed [Network security: Do not keep hash value of LAN Manager on the changing of password next time]. 2To delete the current password that is stored in LM hash, please change it to temporary password, then change it to the original password immediately. 3) Do the setup of MagicConnect up to the previous page, and confirm the logon from your terminal to the target device. Below are configuration steps of "MC Assist". 1Run the Icon " MC assist settings" of the flame of greenish yellow mark on the desktop, or run " MC assist settings" from [Start] - [Program]- [MagicConnect2.0 Viewer]. If you use NDL plus edition, "Use the viewer that supports security check" will be enabled.. When this is enabled, please specify MagicConnect Viewer to use in "MC Assist" Set this one incase you are executing Checked "MagicConnect2.0 Viewer Plus" to connect MagicConnect. Set this one incase you are executing Uncheck "MagicConnect2.0 Viewer" to connect MagicConnect.. For NDL plus edition, the connection by "MagicConnect2.0 Viewer Plus" is our factory setting. To make it be able to connect by "MagicConnect2.0 Viewer", you will need to change the configuration of MagicConnect server to our administrator account,. 4Set the host name of the target device according to the following form a. If the target device is always connecting to MagicConnect server for uing Input host name of the target device to connect automatically by "MC Assist" into [Host name of the target device]-"remote desktop:". Host name will be the name that appears in the host column of Connection destination list screen of MagicConnect Viewer. MC Assist screen will appear, input MagicConnect server information that was written in [ MagicConnect server URL] - [MagicConnect Viewer (operation PC/operation terminal)] - [The beginning of the account is not the above one] of[magicconnect user account list table] into input field of "Server:" Input account (user name) and temporary password of MagicConnect that was written in "MagicConnect user account list table" into input field of "User name:" and "Password:". If you have executed the connection of MagicConnect in advance, "Server:", "username:" will become the status of having been entered, so please enter the password only If you use "MC Assist", the process from connecting MagicConnect to the target device of the above host name to displaying the logon screen of the target device will be executed automatically b. If the target device is power off, started by WakeOnLAN, and connecting to MagicConnect server for using Enter the host name of the target device to connect automatically by "MC Assist" into the column [Host name of the target device] - "Remote desktop:", and the host name of MC3000 into the column: "WOL (Optional) ". Each of these host names will be the name that appears in the host column of Connection destination list screen of MagicConnect Viewer. 3Set "Disable automatic startup". Incase of being checked Incase of uncheck By displaying the setting screen of MC Assist from the shortcut icon "MC Assist Settings" on the desktop and pressing "Connect" in the lower part of the screen, the connection of MagicConnect will be performed. You will not be able to run MC Assist from "MC Assist" icon. If you activate the shortcut icon "MC Assist" on the desktop, the connection of MagicConnect will be performed automatically. If you use "MC Assist", the MagicConnect connection to MC3000 of the above host name will be executed automatically and WOL client screen will be displayed. If you specify the target device of the above host name as the destination PC and send Magic packet, the target device will launch and the logon screen will be displayed. 5 After finishing the above settings, press "Save". 6 Finally, press "Connect", confirm that the connection operation of MagicConnect that supports the usage form of 4 is executed and the logon screen of the target device is displayed. MagicConnect dedicated WOL controller to power on the target device is posted in our Product page (http://www.magicconnect.net/) [Standard Products] tab [WOL Controller].
