From the MBA Director Lagos Business School, a unique institution, is highly ranked both locally and globally. Due to the quality of our programmes, the institution has consistently been rated highly by the Financial Times. We offer a world class business management education that will provide you the knowledge, tools and experience to handle the intricacies of the current and future business environments. Every year we welcome new participants into our MBA programmes. We attract the best and the brightest faculty members, who impart knowledge and conduct relevant research, to ensure the institution is at the cutting edge of management education and business practice. LBS also partners with other international institutions, such as IESE Business School, Spain; Nanyang Business School, Singapore and Strathmore Business School, Kenya to broaden participants exposure to faculty and students around the world. The institutional focus is on providing a business management education based on Christian values with the aim of impacting the professional and ethical standards of business practice in Nigeria. The curriculum ensures exposure to core management principles, and electives are offered to tailor your learning to your personal interests and career goals. While all course instructions are anchored on the Harvard case-study method of teaching, LBS has gone a step further by developing local case studies that provide solutions to problems faced by companies in emerging markets. The case studies offer a robust sampling of potential business problems a manager would encounter in business management practice. For MBA participants, the institution provides further industry immersion opportunities by offering them a threemonth internship programme and professional services in a local or multinational company. The experience creates a convergence of theory and practice. Is the LBS MBA for you? Absolutely! Graduation from these programmes will enhance your business management knowledge, interpersonal skills, and ethical reasoning thus giving you a competitive edge. Our graduates also join a community of professionals (LBS Alumni) who provides a forum for networking throughout your career. Career and Personal Development As part of the programme, you will have access to our Career Office committed to providing you the best available resources and expertise to enable you identify your career goals, thereby creating an optimal fit with the corporate environment. Career sessions are organised to help you understand yourself, explore possible career options, and acquire job search strategies including CV writing and interviewing skills. At the career sessions, you also learn about various industries through interactions with chief executives and human resource managers who facilitate the industry profile and outlook sessions. We facilitate your job and internship search by working with companies to generate offers. One of the ways this is achieved is through the annual MBA Career Fair, an event which brings together employers of choice and MBA participants. The alumni network of LBS and involvement of corporate bodies in our various School programmes also enhance our link to top recruiters. For sound integral personal development which we believe can enhance productivity both on the programme and after, all participants are assigned a Faculty and Alumni mentor who are responsible for providing personalised attention and guide towards personal effectiveness. 6

Programme Delivery and Content To successfully complete the MBA programme, 15 months of in-class study, 3 months of corporate paid internship and at least 72 credit hours of course work are required. There will be three semesters in all; two semesters in the first academic year, one semester in the final year. The last two semesters are elective semesters and students can choose to participate in student exchange programmes with our partner schools abroad or offer electives locally. After the first year, a three months corporate internship is required. LBS uses the case-study method to facilitate learning. With case studies, students are able to apply the concepts and skills that the course is designed to teach, and integrate knowledge from other courses as well as from real-life experiences. Participation is crucial to the learning process. Thus, students must devote some time to personal study to identify the key issues of the case and do some analysis before the class discussion. Work groups are also constituted to enable students discuss parts of the case they find difficult before going into the classroom. Group meetings also enable them see problems and solutions from different perspectives, as the different educational and work experiences of fellow students create a rich diversity. 7 LAGOS BUSINESS SCHOOL / The LBS MBA

Admissions Process 12

The networking opportunities were immense; every day offered a new opportunity to meet with a business leader I ended up with three employment offers I was fresh out of school and was working as the Operations Manager for Arden and Newton, a firm I founded with a friend. After some years, I felt I was ready for the next level. With my engineering background, I needed to develop management expertise, grow my network and increase my exposure. So I decided to join the LBS MBA programme. The course content was rich and the delivery, effective. There was a unique blend of global and local perspectives. The networking opportunities were immense; every day offered a new opportunity to meet with a business leader. I was privileged to lead the first ever LBS Africa Business Conference and that experience has been life changing for me. I was also part of the team that represented the school at the John Moulson Business Case Competition in Canada. The Career Office provided opportunities to network with several employers and equipped me with the skills to apply and go through the recruitment processes. I ended up with three employment offers and chose my present employer as it aligned with my future career goals. Arguably, no other business school would have offered me the skills to navigate the global business environment and simultaneously provide the contextual expertise needed to overcome the challenges of doing business in Africa. Nwagbara Chukwuka (MBA10) Commercial Leadership Program General Electric Nigeria My LBS internship gave me my first international work experience and the application of learned concepts earned me an award of business excellence from the Tony Elumelu Foundation. 13 LAGOS BUSINESS SCHOOL / The LBS MBA

The MBA stretches you. You gain leadership skills, increase your capacity to navigate through uncertainty, and you are able to take on just about any challenge in the work place. Getting my MBA at LBS is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Having worked for a few years, I needed the next big challenge. I wanted to develop core managerial skills that could fast track my career and position me to take on bigger leadership opportunities. If I wanted a world-class MBA out of Africa, I knew it had to be LBS. I knew the opportunities the School opened up for its Alumni. I wanted global knowledge that had local relevance, and I got it! My internship with Accenture Consulting Nigeria was another highlight of the programme. The MBA opened up the opportunity to work in this prestigious organisation where I had the opportunity to network and work on really challenging projects. Toyin Sanwo (MBA10) Associate Brand Manager (Media) Procter & Gamble Nigeria In the course of the programme, every course added value, with the highest levels of mental engagement one could ask for. I was a key member of the student-led team that pioneered the Africa Business Conference in 2013. I was a Co-Chair responsible for Media and Marketing Communications. We attracted over 400 participants (over 20 speakers) drawn from across the continent, and secured big media partnerships including CNBC Africa, Forbes Africa and BusinessDay. 14

Entrepreneurship at LBS In helping to build an entrepreneurship mindset amongst participants, the Entrepreneurship module is a core course that must be taken by all participants. LBS provides the opportunity to learn all the basics about starting and managing a business. In addition to this, opportunities to write and present business plans are also provided through the yearly organised Impact Investing Business Plan Competition. The yearly contest aims to make the MBAs bridge the gap between economic growth and lagging social development through profitable businesses that solve social problems. 15 LAGOS BUSINESS SCHOOL / The LBS MBA
