My focus in joining the MSMS program was to learn about energy. During the year I was able to connect with the leading researchers on energy topics, join a study group with mostly PhD students at MIT, and take energy focused classes at MIT Sloan. This inter-disciplinary connection at MIT and the opportunity to cross-register at Harvard Kennedy School of Government allowed me to also gain insights to the engineering and policy aspects of energy. The time at MIT was a spectacular learning experience and the specialized knowledge will help me in my career. Coming from Morocco and studying in France, I was not used to the way American schools use their networks and was even reluctant to use MIT s. With the help of the Career Development Office, I learnt how to optimize this technique and enjoyed contacting people from my HEC and MIT networks. This strategy, in conjunction with the MIT brand I benefitted from, helped me with my job search in France. Indeed, I spent the January break interviewing for jobs and came back to MIT in February with four job offers. Academically, I chose to write a strategy focused thesis with Professor Stewart Myers and took classes that helped me assess risk management in Korean life insurance companies. Outside of class, I networked with my classmates and professors at MIT, kept up with my Mandarin, and studied for my CFA Level 3 test. Jungmoo Huh MBA: SKK-GSB 2011 MSMS 11 Samsung Life Insurance

Career Development I was fortunate to have Professor Glen Urban, former dean of MIT Sloan, as my MSMS thesis advisor. My thesis titled Online Advertisement Morphing: Empirical and Strategic Implications leveraged data analytics and cognitive science to optimize a leading telecom service provider s advertising expense and at the same time increased click-throughs for publishing websites. Working on this thesis helped me make the necessary connections to find a job in the U.S. and helped me gain knowledge that I now share with my clients. Now, as an alum I find that I still rely on the MIT connections and knowledge personally and professionally.
