Daikin UK working in conjunction with The National Skills Academy Daikin Airconditioning UK has joined forces with The National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies to create its first national Manufacturer Hub. The pioneering Daikin UK Manufacturer Hub is the first to be developed by the Skills Academy to provide bespoke training for an individual manufacturer s products. It will complement and interact with the Skills Academy s network to enable trainees to gain qualifications in air-to-water heat pump technology, allowing them to work towards a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation and be fully qualified to install Daikin renewable technology systems. The aim is to increase the number of MCS accredited installers throughout the UK. Designed to offer assurances that products and services meet rigorous and consistent Government standards, easing any end-user concerns about adopting an innovative product or technology. The Daikin UK Manufacturer Hub will initially be based at three of the vocational training venues, with whom Daikin UK has already formed working relationships. These venues include College of North West London, Dudley Energy Training Hub and PGL Training in Exeter. The Skills Academy provides training in the design, installation and maintenance of technologies such as solar thermal, photovoltaics, heat pumps, water harvesting and recycling. Comprising 23 hub colleges, the Academy works to offer accredited environmental technologies training, all of which meets the requirements for MCS certification. 4 Heating and renewables

There is a growing demand from home owners to replace heating systems, especially replacing of gas boilers, with more efficient, more cost effective and more environmentally friendly systems that reduce CO 2 emissions, reduce energy consumption and protect their budget. The answer is the Daikin Altherma hybrid heat pump. For space heating, the Daikin Altherma hybrid heat pump will combine air-to-water heat pump technology by searching for the optimum economical condition for its operation, combining parameters of energy cost (electricity, gas) heat pump efficiency and heat load requirements to deliver up to 35% more heating efficiency, plus major cost savings. For domestic hot water, the Daikin Altherma hybrid heat pump optimises the operation of the most efficient gas condensing boiler. Your benefits > Low running costs for heating and domestic hot water compared to traditional boilers > Low investment cost > Provides sufficient heat in renovation applications > Easy and fast installation Installation and commissioning training options available for this new product range: 1 Day DUK-SE32: Specifically designed for those engineers who have previously attended and fully completed the DUK-SE11. 2 Day DUK-SE37: Specifically designed for those engineers with no previous DUK-SE11 attendance. 10 Heating and renewables

EAL industry accredited heating courses Daikin UK are pleased to be able to offer courses in association with our partner colleges that will provide the learner with industry qualifications that count towards MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme), whilst at the same time providing the necessary knowledge to install Daikin Altherma products. This provides the advantage of combining courses into one that will enable the learner to: > Achieve Industry qualifications that count towards MCS accreditation > Receive the training required to purchase, install and maintain Daikin Altherma products > Save time required for training > Provide a lower overall cost of training. Courses are accredited by EAL (Excellence, Achievement and Learning Ltd) EAL is the specialist, employer recognised awarding organisation for the engineering, manufacturing, building services and related sectors. Daikin have worked with EAL to obtain official accreditation of bespoke courses that use the core content of QCF qualifications and are based around Daikin Altherma heat pump products. These courses qualify the learner to achieve qualifications that are listed on the Ofqual register database forming part of the Environmental Technologies pathway towards MCS registration. Courses are available at selected regional technical colleges College of North West London, Dudley Energy Training Hub, and PGL Training in Exeter. Daikin accredited courses provide the choice of obtaining qualification based around a combined course covering the Altherma split and monobloc products, or based on the monobloc product alone. Regardless of the product base chosen there are two Ofqual qualifications that can be achieved. > QCF600/5249/1 -EAL Level 3 Installation of Heat Pump Systems > QCF600/5253/3 -EAL Level 3 Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pump Systems. The most economic and recommended solution is to take the full Installation and Maintenance path, but if required it is possible to take the separate Daikin Service and Inspection course (DUK CO5) at a later date following the installation courses to gain the full qualification. The EAL QCF qualifications are aligned with the National Occupational Standards (NOS) recognised by MCS for the purposes of proving specific competencies. For more information or to apply for one of the listed EAL Industry accredited heating courses, please contact your nearest college directly. 12 Heating and renewables

The short course vouchers are aimed at existing plumbing and heating engineers in order to encourage them to undertake training in renewable heating technologies. This part of the scheme will deliver vouchers worth 75% of the cost of the training and assessment, up to a maximum of 500 per voucher (including VAT). A maximum of five vouchers per company will be available. To be eligible the company must be a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME). Daikin Airconditioning UK has a range of EAL accredited courses (DUK-CO1 to DUK-CO5) that are eligible for the RHI Training Support scheme. Daikin UK Training 2014/15 13

Industry related refrigeration courses Daikin UK offers product training through established in-house training centres, via short courses and on-site training. However, as the heating market in the UK continues to grow, the next generation of engineers need to be trained on refrigerant handling skills. To achieve this, there needs to be active support between training providers and the industry. Regional college providers offer structured courses to train engineers from the beginning. They also offer specialised short courses, for more experienced engineers. However, they also recognise the need for assistance from the manufacturers, to enhance their facilities with modern technology, hence our developed regional working relationship. The following courses are available for new heat pump engineers to learn the principles of refrigerant handling and pipe work installations. Daikin UK Training 2014/15 15
