FCC Potential Funding Sources for Charities and Non Profits Background Included in the list below, are many of the major sources of charitable and nonprofit funding sources available, with a focus primarily on Saskatchewan. This list was compiled after reviewing the eligibility criteria and includes only those that have children or youth outlined as one of their funding focus areas. Eligibility for all funding below requires proof of either registered charitable or non-profit status. The potential funder list below is not compiled in any particular order as most funders did not disclose the amount of funding they provide in any given year but rather a percentage of profits given (for Imagine Canada companies). 1. SaskTel SaskTel has developed a Community Investment Program which responds to the sponsorship requests of Saskatchewan non-profit and charitable organizations. The program provides broad support to all communities, along with a focus on activities linked to technology, diversity, youth, and rural life. The Community Investment Program supports four new areas. Your group's activity or event must be linked to at least one of these areas to qualify for support. 1. Technology The community has been asking SaskTel for support in our area of expertise - telecommunications and ebusiness technology. Events or new projects with a focus on technology will qualify. 2. Diversity Saskatchewan has many different ethnic and cultural groups in its population. Your group will qualify if it represents a visible minority; women in non-traditional roles, people with disabilities, or Aboriginal people. 3. Youth SaskTel places a special emphasis on supporting young people and providing educational programs that will help them succeed in the world of information and technology.

4. Rural SaskTel is committed to supporting non-profit groups situated throughout the province. Online Application Form Check List You will need the following to complete the application: The full name, address, telephone number and email address of the key contact for your organization The organization s charitable registration number with Canada Revenue Agency A brief description of the organization, its history, mandate, goals and achievements Funding request details with desired impact and specific benefits to end users Project budget, if applicable Board of Directors listing including each member s name, occupation, employer, role on the Board and if they are affiliated with CIBC

Names of any CIBC employees who volunteer with your organization Does your organization have current audited financial statements available if requested? Previous funding from CIBC or the CIBC Children s Foundation Key sources of funding, including government, foundations, other corporate and private donors A recognition plan What amount of funding is reasonable to request Most organizations receive donations of less than $10,000 For major fundraising campaigns, CIBC will consider funding up to a maximum of 0.5% of the private sector fundraising goal to a cap of $500,000. Note: CIBC will only consider requests once all government funding (federal, provincial and municipal) has been confirmed All multi-year campaigns include a three-year sunset clause, or noncontributing period, following payment of the final installment. This applies to all organizations including those that are currently receiving funding through a major fundraising campaign or amalgamated campaign. If an organization has both a national office and regional chapters, we consider the funding we provide to both levels https://grant.grantstream.ca/frames/cibc/landingpage/

6. The Co-operators Foundation In 2012, The Co-operators contributed a total of $6.4 million to various initiatives that support Canadians and our communities. This number amounted to 4.62% of The Co-operators pre-tax profits using the Imagine Canada formula, which qualifies us as a Caring Company with Imagine Canada for demonstrating leadership in community investment. Community Economic Development Funds (CED) We support healthy communities in Canada through two complimentary funds: Co-operators Fiftieth Anniversary Community Fund, which focuses exclusively on supporting registered charities; Co-operators Community Economic Development (CED) Fund, which supports non-profit organizations and co-operatives. The purpose of these funds is to support community economic development initiatives that lead to job creation and/or enhanced employability for marginalized populations. The funds also offer multiyear grants that provide recipient organizations with longer term planning options and increased financial stability. Organizations can only apply for a multiyear grant following the receipt and successful completion of a one year grant from the funds. Applying for funding Proposals for funding are reviewed twice per year. Application deadlines are January 1st and September 1st. Decisions are made in mid-april and early December respectively. To be considered for funding, your organization must: Have a specific program aimed at helping marginalized individuals Build capacity (community and organizational): The program should assist not only the individuals, but in doing so, also strengthen the organizations assisting them and the communities in which they live. The funding should also help the organization move toward becoming sustainable, through leveraging of new funding partnerships, diversification of funding sources, and careful financial planning. Provide evidence of strong community partnerships/funders that contribute both financially and in-kind (we are especially interested in any relationships that exist with the co-op sector and/or our agents).

Have access to appropriate technical, strategic and administrative assistance Have a sound business and marketing plan showing how the organization plans to achieve its objectives Budget / Funding Request: We do not fund more than 50% of the program or project budget and the maximum grant is $20,000. Specific outcomes and measures of success: Upon the completion of the funding year, we ask for a status report relating the program activities/strategies to these success measures. Further funding, whether for a successive annual grant or a multiyear grant, is dependent on receipt of this report and satisfactory application of any key learnings. Geographic distribution: We seek to distribute our funding across Canada Projects not eligible for assistance: Capital expenditures; Conferences, workshops, seminars; Travel Fund-raising initiatives Deficit reduction Retroactive expenses; Literacy programs Summer camps To request a copy of the CED Funds application form please contact the_cooperators_foundation@cooperators.ca

7. RBC One out of every five North American children suffers from a mental health problem. We believe we can make a difference by funding programs that focus on early intervention, reducing stigma and increasing public awareness. How We Fund Programs We use our general donations eligibility criteria when reviewing applications for funding under the RBC Children s Mental Health Project. We also consider factors specific to the area of children s mental health, as described below. What We Fund We evaluate Children's Mental Health program proposals based on the following: 1. Early intervention We consider proposals for early intervention programs that are: o Focused on the most prevalent childhood and adolescent mental illnesses including anxiety, conduct disorders and mood disorders o Evidence-based programs validated by documented scientific evidence and supported by scientifically sound studies that have demonstrated consistently positive outcomes o Facilitated though a community-based organization that is collaborating with all levels of service providers (including government) to provide an integrated model of service delivery o Focused on children and youth between the ages of 0 to 18. 2. Public education We consider proposals for programs and projects that: o Educate parents on how to access appropriate services o Educate teachers and health care professionals on how to identify the signs of mental health problems and learn how to take early action o Educate the public, including adults, youth and children, on the nature and prevalence of children's mental health issues in Canada and how to access help o Increase awareness and reduce stigma.

Please consider the following information when considering how much to request in your application: 80% of RBC's donations are under $20,000 RBC normally funds no more than 0.5% of an organization s operating budget For capital campaign requests, RBC normally funds 0.5% of an organization s private sector campaign target, not including government support For requests that pertain to one of your specific projects or programs, we determine funding based on strategic alignment. RBC will consider funding up to 20% of a specific project or program budget RBC prefers to fund programs and projects rather than bricks and mortar If an organization has both a national office and regional chapters, we consider the funding we provide to both levels Your Application/Proposal Your application or proposal should include a cover sheet that you can access on this web site, as well as your actual proposal. The proposal may be in your own preferred format but it does have to contain each of the items listed below: A brief statement of your organization s history, goals and accomplishments to date An outline of the project for which you are requesting funding (no more than 2 pages) A project budget showing anticipated expenses and incomes List of other committed or approached donors, including government sources Most recent audited financial statements (must be less than a year old) List of the Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet members if applicable Cultural organizations should submit their most recent 12-month audience statistics http://www.rbc.com/community-sustainability/apply-for-funding/generaldonations-pre.html?wwparam=1379979785

On an annual basis, Weyburn Credit Union will place a portion of its pre-tax earnings into a Community Fund to help build, expand, and/or improve facilities and/or programs which support the development of our communities. It is our hope that the money from the Weyburn Credit Union Community Fund will support as many worthwhile projects as possible and, at the same time, provide the credit union with value in terms of sponsorship recognition and leveraging opportunities that further promote the Credit Union's positive image. Sponsorship should also place the Credit Union top-of-mind, becoming the primary choice for financial services.
