PV CYCLE ASSOCIATION aisbl declares hereby that based upon the current commitment: ET Solar is Full Member of PV CYCLE Association aisbl which organizes for all their members the collection and recycling of End-of-Life photovoltaic modules. The current status of the PV CYCLE System is as follows: Information Note Progress Report PV CYCLE and timeline 2010 Brussels, 1 February 2010 For whom it may concern, please find hereafter the update on the current status of the collection and recycling programme of end-of-life photovoltaic (PV) modules as well as the practical next steps that will ensure the launch of the system in since January 2010, to be then expanded gradually to the whole EU and EFTA countries. 1. Collection points in : Eleven installers and wholesalers have already been set up as collection points (see map on the right). Each collection point allows the owner of end-of-life PV modules to deposit them free of charge. Next steps are currently being developed to increase the network of collection points. Registered Collection point 2. Logistics provider(s): The Board of Directors appointed on 14 th December 2009 the company Hellmann Worldwide Logistics as supplier for the logistics in 2010 and 2011. In January 2010 every collection point shall be visited or contacted to implement the procedures. 3. Recycler provider(s): The deadline for the offers for the tender on recycling services was 18 th of December 2009. The evaluation Committee has evaluated all offers in a first round; the second round evaluation takes place on 19 th February 2010. Soon afterwards the recycling company (-ies) shall be appointed. 4. Financial commitment of the members: At the last General Assembly meeting of PV CYCLE in September, members agreed to the payment of a contribution fee of 0.24 /kg for the 2% of PV modules that were placed on the market in 2008. This contribution fee will enable the financing of PV CYCLE s operations in 2010 and create the foundations of a reserve fund for the operation of PV CYCLE over the long term. This fund will assure the financial means to collect and recycle end-of-life modules in the future even if a producer would become insolvent and therefore cease to exist. 5. Financial study: Price Water house Coopers was appointed to perform a study on the most suitable funding mechanism, from the taxes and the legal point of view, for all our members and the association itself. The study has been delivered by the end of 2009 and is currently the 1

basis for discussion on the most suitable funding mechanism for future collection and recycling. 6. PV industry commitment: PV CYCLE has 69 members on 1st of January 2010, including 58 producers and as such represents more than 85% of the European market. In 2009 alone, 16 companies joined PV CYCLE. The start of 2010 is promising whilst again 18 producers joined the Association. 7. Environmental Agreement: After signing a joint declaration with the European Union in December 2008, the members of PV CYCLE voted on 15 th December 2009 in favor for the text of an Environmental Agreement. This Agreement shall first be disseminated to all members with the invitation to sign before 30 of March 2010. At the same time the members shall analyze and conclude out of the Price Water House Study the setting for financing as from 2011 and onwards. 8. Transparency and monitoring: Whilst voting the Environmental Agreement, the PV CYCLE members established a Monitoring Committee to ensure that the objectives of the scheme are met in a measurable and transparent manner. A database is being compiled in view of the annual report on the functioning of the scheme to be made available to interested parties. Prof. Jef Poortmans, a respected and acknowledged PV specialist from IMEC Research Center in Belgium, has been appointed as the President of this Monitoring Committee. The black-box to handle the collection and storage of confidential data from member companies was set up in August 2009 and will be managed by Recydatavzw. About PV CYCLE PV CYCLE, the European Association for the voluntary take-back and recycling of photovoltaic modules PV CYCLE was created as a non-profit international management organization in July 2007 and is now composed of 69 members out of which 58 PV producing companies representing over 85% of the EU photovoltaic market, including major international players (EU,,,, India and ). PV CYCLE mission is to promote an overall voluntary waste management and recycling policy of the PV industry economically feasible collection and recycling targets by an appropriate treatment of waste PV modules. which guarantees highest For more information: For details on PV CYCLE progress towards the set up of an EU wide take-back and recycling scheme for end-of-life PV modules: Jan Clyncke Managing Director PV CYCLE E-mail: jan.clyncke@pvcycle.org Tel: +32 2 400 10 96 Dr Virginia Gomez Scientific & Operations Officer PV CYCLE Email: virginia.gomez@pvcycle.org Tel. +32 2 400 10 97 2
