1 Introduction This technological documentation describes the datalogger µ-efi which is able to record and analyse data. It transmits the recorded data to a server. Furthermore µ-efi can be used for equipment control. It is compact enough to fit into a measuring cabinet so a standalone measuring station can be constructed. µ-efi perfectly complements the modular information system by Leineweber GmbH. Its high flexibility supports an uncomplicated integration of sensors and analysis devices as much as it helps to come up with the user s individual expectations and requests concerning equipment control, data processing and data availability. This way µ-efi completes Leineweber GmbH s 19-inch datalogger system. The software of each computer belonging to this 19-inch system is compatible to µ-efi s software which grants a direct connection with the internet or other control centers. Leineweber GmbH offers the installment of a personal internet service that provides immediate data access at any time and tools e.g. geographical maps, diagrams, alarm messages, etc. to simplify and enhance data analysis for the user. Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 3

Tecnical Documentation µ-efi 1.0, 8. June 2011 2 2.1 Technical description structure and function Although µ-efi is quite small it provides all functions a control and analysis computer should have. It supports for example frequency converters and other gauges and analysis devices. µ-efi can be connected to a local network or (via analogue modem or ISDN modem) to the telephone network. µ-efi has been designed for use in a rough environment. The aluminium profile casing protects the computer from environmental influences. image 2-1 µ-efi casing For special requirements the computer can be equipped with additional circuit boards (A/D converter, counter, digital inputs and outputs). The following circuits are available on the add on board: - 6 electrically isolated analogue inputs 0/4-20 ma (0-1V,0-10V), resolution 12 Bit - 12 electrically isolated analogue digital inputs - 2 or on special request 6 counters - 4 electrically isolated analogue digital outputs 0,5A Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 4

Tecnical Documentation µ-efi 1.0, 8. June 2011 image 2-2 µ-efi with additional circuit boards The casing can, due to its small size, easily be integrated in a control cabinet. Mounting brackets may be inserted into the notches of the lower casing edges. Since all connection points are on the front of µ-efi, it can be assembled on a rail module. The entire electronics are placed on a 100x100 mm printed circuit board. All connections on the front of µefi, with the exception of the FME bushing for the external GSM antenna, are directly connected with this printed circuit board. A fitting modem by INSYS Microelectronics can be assembled as a plug-in on the printed circuit board in order to establish a connection to a wired or wireless telephone service. In a special version µ-efi supports all electrically saving functions that are necessary for a standalone operation with a storage battery or a solar panel. These functions include: time-referenced sleep and wakeup rhythm wakeup by external events data preservation in the case of a power failure optionally uninterrupted power supply (UPS) automatic transmission of data only if alarm conditions are fulfilled The µ-efi software fulfils all tasks of a control and analysis computer: data logging data reduction data analysis data archiving remote data transmission and alarm function control of external equipment flexible configuration and parametrising remote administration and remote control Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 5

2.2 Protocols The EFI is designed to be a communication box, so a multitude of communication protocols are available. Modbus Modbus via ethernet Siemens S5 protocol Siemens S7 MPI protocol Melsec Bayern Hessen protocol Profibus Raw UDP or TCP-IP Telnet Http Canbus LUFFT protocol Grimm protocol Airmotec protocol Native MSSQL Client OPC XML Server...... If you miss anything in this list, please contact us we have much more protocols and if not then we probably can make it for you. Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 6

Tecnical Documentation µ-efi 1.0, 8. This supply voltage and ground connection get fed via the 3-pole Phoenix slide-on (type MC 1,5/3-G-3,81). The following image depicts the pin assignment in front view: pin 1 + 12 to + 28 V generaly 24 V image 2-4 2 3 ground, connected with the metal casing Zero pin assignment power supply Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 7

2.3.2 status LEDs µ-efi has two light- emitting diodes. The green one s rhythmical flashing indicates that the computer is operating while a flashing red LED indicates a uplink with the server. A continuous lit Red led indicates an error or the need for operator assistance. 2.3.3 RS232-1 and RS232-2 RS232-1 and RS232-2 are connectors with full handshake signals, these could be used in modem connections or datatransmissions where handshake signals are required. If not used otherwise RS232-1 is reserved for connecting a PC to exchange data and settings. The RxTx-LEDs left of the sub-d connectors signalise data traffic on the reception- and transmissioncircuits. The two upper light-emitting diodes always give the signals RxD for RS232-1 and TxD for RS232-1 and the two lower light-emitting diodes always give the signals RxD for for RS232-2 and TxD for RS232-2. The following drawing shows the pin assignment of the two SUB-D connectors: image 2-5 SUB-D 9-pole connector Pin signal function 1 DCD Data carrier detect 2 RxD RS 232 receive datal 3 TxD RS 232 transmit data 4 DTR Data terminal ready 5 GND Ground 6 DSR Data set ready 7 RTS Request to send 8 CTS Clear to send 9 RI Ring indicator Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 8

2.3.4 RS232-3 and RS232-4 The aditional RS232 3 and RS232-4 connectors are used to connect devices that do not use additional handshake signals to communicate. To acommedate a GPS mouse a 5 Volt supply is provided on pin 8. Make shure that the combined current of the 2 supplys does not excede 50mA. A PTC-fuse of 50mA is build into the Efi. The right LED marks outgoing traffic. The left marks in coming traffic. The following drawing shows the pin assignment of RS232-3 and 4 connectors: image 2-6 RJ45 connector pin signal function 1 - not connected 2 RxD RS 232 reception signal 3 TxD RS 232 transmission signal 4 - not connected 5 GND ground 6 - not connected 7 - not connected 8 VCC 5Volt supply 2.3.5 RS485 and RS422 The RS485 connector is situated in the lower right corner of the EFI. image 2-7 RJ45 connector pin Signa Function l 1 - not connected 2 - not connected 3 - not connected 4 RX+ RS422 receive + 5 RX- RS422 receive - 6 - not connected 7 TX+ RS485 RXTX+/RS422 TX+ 8 TX- RS485 RXTX-/RS422 TX-

On the main board you can find 3 jumpers to terminate the RS485 bus. The upper Jumper (JP3) pulls the + line via a 330 Ohm resistor to VCC. The middle Jumper (JP4) connects the + line and the line via a 330 Ohm resistor and the lower jumper (JP5) pulls the line to GND via a 330 Ohm resistor. The right LED marks outgoing traffic. The left marks incoming traffic. Changing the interface from RS422 to RS485 is done at production time. image 2-8 Termination Jumpers 2.3.6 Ethernet The Ethernet connector has a default pinning. It automatically detects a 10 Mbit/s or a 100 Mbit/s connection and it adapts to a crossover or standard patch cable. The right LED marks the used speed. The left marks in and outgoing traffic. The IP number, gateway and mask can be set with a special program available from our website. An internal Webserver can be part of the software and is used to display information and data. 2.3.7 Internal Modem The µ-efi can be equipped with an ANALOG, ISDN, GSM, GPRS, EDGE and UMTS modem. If the Modem is wireless the antenna can be connected to the FME socket in the upper right corner. A Simcard can be inserted inside the EFI. Lift the simcardholder on the Modem up, insert the simcard, put the cardholder back down and lock the cardholder. No force is necessary to insert a simcard. If the simcardholder will not close or lock you probably inserted the simcard the wrong way. Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 12

image 2-8 Inserting a simcard Please keep in mind that we normally use a standard pin code. Please change the pin code provided by the telephone company to the standard pincode BEFORE inserting it into EFI. Other information that you need to provide to us is : Provider ID APN Username Password 2.4 Logging Data µ-efi records the measured values. The capacitor buffered real time clock functions as a reference to control all time-referenced actions. Recorded data does not get lost in the case of a power failure because the EFI saves its data into a serial flash memory. 2.5 SD-Card Your data will be logged to the SD-card in Ascii-text files. The file names represent the measuring day (e.g. all data from 12.06.2011 will be logged into the file 12062011.TXT ). All datapoints are seperated by semicolons so it can be directly imported into a spreadsheet software like Excel or OpenOffices Calc. You can read out all data by puting the Micro-SD-Card into your PC or export single day files directly via the internal HTML-Page. Currently SD-HC Cards upto 4GB with Speed Class 4 are supported; File Format is FAT32. 2.6 Data archiving µ-efi provides 4MB flash memory for data archiving. 2.7 Remote data transmission The collected and analysed data can be assessed by a control centre at any time. Remote inquiry is possible via telephone circuit (ISDN or analogue), via wireless (GSM or GPRS) or via the network circuit. Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 13

Tecnical Documentation µ-efi 1.0, 8. June 2011 However calling the station via a fixed telephone line or gsm modem is quickly losing ground in favour of packet oriented transmissions such as GPRS. With the help of the software maintenance program the fitted modem can be controlled manually. Information regarding modems by INSYS Microelectronics can be found on the website http://www.insystec.de. If the conditions for an autonomous approach (alarm, interference, threshold violation) are fulfilled µ-efi dials one or several telephone numbers and transfers the alarm message and data. Leineweber GmbH offers the instalment of a WEB based service that provides immediate data access at any time and tools e.g. geographical maps, diagrams, alarm messages, etc. to simplify and enhance data analysis for the user. This web service is of course secured against unauthorised access. 2.8 System security A watchdog controls µ-efi and resets the processor without data loss in the case of an error. 2.9 Aditional IO Boards Several IO Boards are designed to be fitted to the main board. The Multi-IO Board has 6 analog inputs 4-20mA,0-1V, 0-10V 12 bit,12 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs. image 2-10 Efi with Multi-IO board All inputs and outputs have a galvanic separation to the main board. 2.9.1 Analog inputs The analog inputs are also galvanicly seperated from each other so no measuring faults are induced by connecting measuring equiptment with different voltage levels. The maximum voltage difference between to channels is 50V. The analog channels are calibrated electronicly and therefore have to be set to a input type at production time, so you have to request the kind of input you want. Default is 4-20 ma Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 14

The 4-20 ma input has an additional current limmiter build in that is set to 25 ma, so accidental connection to a 24V source will not harm the device. The maximum Voltage rating of the current limmiter is 40 V. The 4-20mA input has an measuring resistor of 12 ohm additional about 2 volts will fall over the input diode and the current limmiter, so the maximum voltage drop at 20 ma is 2,3 Volts. image 2-11 Schematic of an analog input. 2.9.2 Digital inputs All digital inputs have a common ground and are designed for 24V industry standard signals. The inputs 1 to 4 have different kind of input cuircuit than the inputs 5 to 12. The first four inputs are designed to handle fast signals >30kHz, the other inputs can only handle signals <3kHz. The Fast inputs will accept voltages as low as 6 Volts, the Slow inputs as low as 12 Volts. The default setting for the RC filter of the fast inputs is 30kHz but if you need 300kHz we adjust the RC values. image 2-12 Schematic of a fast digital input image 2-13 Schematic of a slow digital input The first 6 inputs can also be used als digital 16 bit counters. Please keep in mind that only the first four inputs are of the fast kind. Leineweber GmbH, Vetschauer Weg 170-172, D-52072 Aachen Seite 15

2.9.3 Digital Outputs All digital outputs are also galvanicly seperated from each other. They are arranged as a darlington configuration with an optocoupler output and a transistor. An antiparalell diode is also provided to protect the transistor against voltage spikes generated by solenoid coils. The outputs are capable of switching 500mA and because of the galvanic separation can be placed below or above the payload. image 2-14 Schematic of a digital output.
