The kick-off event was at Sun-n-Fun in Lakeland Florida and drew large crowds daily for the onboard flight simulators and netted suas demonstration and training arena. Participants varied from five year old future aviators to pilots with 50 years of experience; all were interested in the UAS technology and operations. Several students from the Daytona Beach Campus UAS Club performed demonstrations daily including acrobatic maneuvers to the crowds delight. Honors & Awards 5 FAA Selects ERAU Center of Excellence UAS 8 Hyde Park Middle School in Las Vegas, NV held a day-long UAS competition where students presented their business plans, attended operator training, and competed in an obstacle course.

Page 2 College of Aeronautics Newsletter June 2015 Issue 7 The ERAU Experience truck, located in the parking lot at Hyde Park Middle School, allowed students to "walk" through the Worldwide virtual crash lab, simulate flying various suas, and experience operating a Cessna 172 in the Red Bird Simulator along with watching video presentations of life in the ERAU flight schools. This event captured the essence of why this truck is on the road; to introduce future students to the world leader in aviation education. Page 7 College of Aeronautics Newsletter June 2015 Issue 7 Notify Campus Staff in the Event of a Delay or Cancellation in a Scheduled EV Class It has recently become policy that Campus Directors or delegated as CD/ACD must remain at the campus for the first 30 minutes of each EV-Classroom course offered at their respective campus to ensure there are no equipment or otherwise technical issues. There have been instances where some classes were cancelled or started late and the campus staff was not informed. When EVC faculty members delay or cancel classes, they email the students but not the host/ remote campus/staff. Some students do not read their emails and show up for class anyway. Often, the Campus Director is unaware of the situation and does not know what to tell them. This is why it is important that the affected campuses staff be kept in the loop on delayed classes and cancellations. If an EV Classroom instructor should have delays or cancellations of the course, s/he should be required to notify all campus locations where the course is scheduled to be taught. This will ensure that a staff member/campus location is notified of what is going on so that person can inform students. Now that being present for the first 30 minutes is mandatory for campus staff, we also want to ensure that no one is waiting around unnecessarily. Reminder to all faculty (adjunct and full time) to please notify campus staff (Host and all Remote locations) in the event of a delay or cancellation in a scheduled EV class.
