IMI Diploma in Cloud Strategy

Participant Testimonials IMI and UCC have partnered with Microsoft to develop the. This is what past participants have to say about their experience of completing the... The IMI Cloud Strategy Blueprint really gives you an objective to aim for at the end of the course and it was key for me in designing a business model, strategy and offering that ultimately resulted in the formation of Cloud Compare. Eamon Moore, Managing Director E-MIT Solutions The classroom environment within the IMI allows you to become fully engaged in a subject. The quality of the presenters and the material along with the debates with classmates provides a rich learning environment that I found extremely worthwhile. While getting the time out of the office was difficult, the benefit was well worth it. There is no doubt that Cloud is changing the IT landscape. Ensuring that I have a detailed understanding of industry trends and technologies is extremely important to me as it enables me to continuously provide an improving IT service to those I serve, which is a primary requirement for my career progression. This programme helped me to understand the benefits and the risks of Cloud computing and has enabled me to develop a robust strategy for the organisation. Above all, providing value to ComReg stakeholders was at the forefront of my studies and has resulted in a schedule of process improvements and cost reductions through the use of innovative technologies. Gerard O Rourke, IT Manager ComReg The programme was without doubt the most important study of my past 20 years. It encompasses a perfect blend of business strategy, technical & financial analysis and creative exploration that will help any organisation discover cloud based business opportunities. It provided me with a practical and academic framework to explore, analyse and successfully implement a cloud based workforce management service for our customers. With the ever increasing availability of cloud based technology services and their potential to deliver flexibility and cost savings to organisations, I believe that the introduction of the IMI Diploma in Cloud Strategy is both timely and relevant. It assesses the cloud from many perspectives: strategic, financial, operational and legal, but always with the focus on the practical and effective use within the student s own organisation. My class comprised a diverse mix of students, ranging from senior management to technologists to small business owners. Some looking to leverage the cloud in the selling of IT services, others looking to delivery value to their organisations in the consumption of cloud based services and technologies. It is likely that the majority of organisations will deliver at least some of their IT related services via cloud based technologies over the coming years. For anyone contemplating the adoption of cloud based services, the offers valuable insights into the scale and potential of such services. Noel Carroll, PwC, IT Director Global Technology Solutions Prior to completing the course, Access Control Technology Ltd. (ACT) was exclusively engaged in the manufacture and supply of electronic hardware access control products. As a result of the course, ACT (www.accesscontrol.ie) has successfully established a new SaaS offering of cloud based workforce management services. (www.actcloudservices.com) Senior managers that are facing constant change driven by growth, regulatory issues, technology shifts or new market opportunities, should consider completing the IMI Diploma in Cloud Strategy. Shay Moran, Chairman Access Control Technology Ltd.

Businesses are challenged and need to re-visit business models. Cloud based services provide dynamic and scalable resources that permit the rapid deployment of new business models. But a clear vision and value proposition is a pre-requisite for success along with strategy. To leverage any cloud opportunity effectively, a wellinformed and rigorously developed cloud strategy blueprint is essential. The will enable you to evaluate business opportunities presented by cloud-based information systems. You will assess the key organisational and technological challenges of migrating applications and services to an external provider. You will develop a rigorous and practical business case for moving an aspect of your activity to the cloud. You will identify and address the overriding strategic issues that your organisation will need to address to take advantage of cloud computing opportunities. You will learn to succeed. Throughout the programme you will have the opportunity to practically apply your learning directly within your organisation. Emphasis is placed upon combining classroom teaching with a creative mix of action learning, class discussion, case study analysis and individual and group activities. Your will complete the programme by writing an applied benefit / solution driver for your organisation. The is a joint development between the Irish Management Institute, University College Cork and Microsoft Ireland. By successfully completing the programme you will receive an internationally recognised postgraduate qualification that is at the cutting edge of technology and strategy. The may also be your first step towards a Masters-level qualification via IMI s Master of Business framework. Who This Programme Is For This IMI Diploma focuses on the strategic opportunities presented by cloud computing. It is not necessary to have a specialised IT background to undertake this programme.
