About the Institute The Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) was established in 1988 under the aegis of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture. The Institute is supported by the B.K. Birla Group of Companies. Dr. (Smt.) Sarala Birla, chairperson of Birla Academy and Syt. B K Birla, Chairperson of the B K Birla Group of companies are the founders of this business school. The Institute is governed by an eminent Board of Governors mostly drawn from the top echelons of industry. The fully residential campus of BIMTECH is located in the National Capital Region (NCR). Its ambience is predominantly green. It has an enviable infrastructure fully connected with Wi-Fi facility. Over 75 faculty members with brilliant academic and industry track record engage the students and research scholars. Their efforts are supplemented by inputs from guest faculty serving the industry in senior positions working in manufacturing, marketing, finance, operations etc. Six bright, young research fellows and 42 part time scholars are carrying out research on industry relevant issues. The academic pursuits of students are fully supported by a modern, well stocked library and seven state of the art data bases. BIMTECH has international academic tie ups with several leading European, American and Asian centres of management education under which there is a regular exchange of students and faculty. Centre for Research Studies The Centre for Research Studies conducts doctoral and academic and industry focused researches. It has been one of the earliest centres of its kind in private business school in the country. The centre has influenced policy and structure of many organizations through its research output. The programme is offered in collaboration with University of Mysore, Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Rajasthan. The Centre has also started Fellow Programme / Executive Fellow Programme in Management. These programs will run in line with those offered in IIMs. The Knowledge Resources BIMTECH Knowledge Centre BIMTECH knowledge centre is an essential component of BIMTECH s research and education effort. The combination of carefully selected traditional and digital resources via browsing interface and supported by exceptionally fast response service provides BIMTECH community with a library that is worthy of this world class institution. The enthusiastic Library management, commitment of talented Library staff and the support of top management makes the Library a most lively place on the campus providing friendly environment 2 P a g e
that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, and extends research and publication assistance to postgraduate students and research scholars. Seven top data bases assist in research. BIMTECH s knowledge centre is well equipped with precious Books, Textbooks, Reference Books, Periodicals and Journals. The students/researchers can freely access these books and references. It is supported by a large well ventilated two floored reading-room. It has a separate section for research scholars. The Library is enriched with digital facilities and computer system. Free access to them is made available to the students, ex-students, research workers, faculty, staff and visitors. The library frequently displays and exhibits various books, particularly new arrivals. Teachers and students can also buy the relevant books directly from market and submit them to the Library for which reimbursement is made immediately. The Knowledge Centre subscribes to the full text on-line database. All electronic resources subscribed are available from the publisher s website. The Library forum a very important division and shares its commitment to excellence of the Institute. The Library is committed to respond with high flexibility to meet the needs of a growing student, researcher and faculty community. The state-of-the-art Library is housed in two floors with reference and borrowing sections distinctly divided. The institute is also member of DELNET which provides ready access to libraries of leading institutions of the national capital region. The Library is actively seeking to augment our international journal resource base. It has become member of over 4000 international journals of repute. Specialised software for data related to industries and economies, available in the Library, provides support research materials to faculty researchers and students. 3 P a g e
The Programme Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) Birla Institute of Management Technology has introduced Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) approved by All India Council for Technical Education (Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India) with an objective to groom talented young researchers to be transformed into innovative thinkers and real world solution providers, seeking opportunities in academics or industry. The FPM effectively draws from the research strengths of faculty members at BIMTECH, who have cutting-edge research competence. This programme is both academically rigorous as well as highly relevant to the needs of today's globalised business. In addition to training future researchers in the domain of business education, this programme also serves to boost research capability and invigorate motivation and creativity. FPM (Doctoral) scholars are expected to be involved as research/teaching assistants and strive to be co-author with faculty members, making it a win-win proposition for the scholars as well as the mentors. The research focus of FPM (Doctoral) programme leads to state-of-art research insights. This contributes both to the research scholars getting new knowledge and the institute in bringing the new knowledge to the classroom. Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM) The Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM) at BIMTECH approved by All India Council for Technical Education (Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India) is a non-residential doctoral programme designed to gratify the erudite needs of working business executives. It prepares executives for careers in management teaching and research as well as in management practice, consulting and development. The programme is built on the executives past experience and academic achievements. It helps the executive maximize his/her effectiveness as an educator or practitioner. The programme helps the executives in their current management roles as well as preparing them for possible careers in academia or consulting. The EFPM is designed to enhance the research and consulting skills of the executive. The Programme is also expected to increase the executives understanding of research methodology and techniques applicable in business. Every year the best thesis is awarded the Jagdish N Sheth Award. Application from willing candidates is invited from the candidates who have submitted the thesis during the year of the award (July to June). The applications are considered by a committee which goes through the thesis and interact with the candidates to decide the best thesis. 4 P a g e
Admission to the Programme FPM / EFPM Eligibility Criteria 1. A master's degree in any discipline with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade point average recognized by AICTE /AIU with a Bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) (OR) 2. Five year integrated Masters Degree Programme in any discipline with at least 60% marks, obtained after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent (OR) 3. A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade point average (OR) 4. 4 years / 8 semester bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech./B. Arch. etc.) with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade point average. Those appearing for their final examinations in the respective disciplines can also apply. 5. For EFPM, a minimum of 6 years of managerial / executive work experience with experience at middle levels would be required. Selection Process for FPM / EFPM: Candidates who have appeared/are appearing for the CAT/GMAT/GRE/GATE/UGC-JRF (two years from the date of the standard test and should be valid on the deadline of submission of the application form) / BIMTECH Doctoral Admission Test will be shortlisted on the basis of the details in the application form and the scores of tests. Only the shortlisted candidates will then be called for interviews. Dates for test shall be announced in Newspapers or communicated telephonically or e-mail to applicants. Course Work Structure of FPM/EFPM Semester I PAPER I : PHILOSOPHY AND THEORY OF RESEARCH PAPER II : RESEARCH METHODOLOGY I PAPER III : REVIEW OF LITERATURE (SEMINAR) PAPER IV : CASE WRITING (SEMINAR) Semester II PAPER V PAPER VI PAPER VII : RESEARCH METHODOLOGY II : RESEARCH METHODOLOGY III : WRITING RESEARCH PAPER (SEMINAR) Course Duration 1. Course work by FPM/EFPM scholars has to be generally cleared in 12 months from enrollment which can be extended to maximum of 15 months in case of FPM, whereas in case of EFPM the same is extendable to 18 months. 2. All candidates are required to attend 75 per cent of total classes. Classes are held on every Saturdays and Sundays. Such candidates, as do not fulfill attendance requirement, will not be allowed to appear in semester examinations. 3. Case Writing has to be completed by FPM scholars in 15 months from enrollment and by EFPM candidates in 18 months from enrollment. 4. Synopsis presentation by FPM and EFPM candidates is to be done in 18 months and 24 months respectively from the date of enrollment. 5. Presubmission presentation of thesis is expected in 30 months and 36 months from the date of enrollment respectively for FPM and EFPM scholars. Before pre submission presentation the scholars are required to submit the Research papers for publication. 6. Maximum 6 /12 months duration would be given to FPM/EFPM scholars between Presubmission Presentation and Final thesis Submission. 6 P a g e

Rs. 60,000/- p.a. (for Indian Scholars) US$ 3,500 p.a. (for international scholars) On actual basis depending upon the type of room, if available 1. After 4 semesters, the fee will increase by Rs. 5000 every semester. In case of inordinate delay in completing the course work, admission in the programme may be cancelled. 2. Rs. 100/- per day will be charged as late fee after the due date for the next 15 days; thereafter the late fee will be increased to Rs. 200/- per day. Dues should be cleared within six months from the due date, otherwise his/her candidature will be recommended to be terminated by the University. 3. Rs. 1500/- per paper will be charged for re-examination. Re-examination will be allowed only two in each paper. 4. The institute reserves the right to charge any other fees from the students or increase the above fees if necessary. Due notice would be given, while making such changes. Note: 1. The decision of BIMTECH in consultation with the university shall be final with regard to the selection of candidates for admission; 2. The candidate shall submit the no objection certificate of the employer (if applicable); 3. The candidate shall submit an experience certificate, giving details of his/her work experience till date, duly certified by current employer; 4. Conditional recommendation by Head of the Institution will not be accepted; and 5. No financial assistance shall be provided to the candidates admitted into the Programme. 8 P a g e
