Participants write and receive detailed feedback on reflective write-ups of their experience following each two day block. We expect you to develop your own coaching practice with clients under supervision (both group and individual) and keep a reflective log of your coaching development and learning from the programme. Each of the six modules will address and refine the following: Defining the task of coaching and its boundaries Practising relevant skills with a developmental approach Developing the coaching relationship Understanding and extending oneself as an effective coach The impact of coaching on the organisation Linking coaching to the wider business and professional system Professional development and ethical practice Why study with us? A systems psychodynamic approach allows coaches to work at depth, to tackle the hard to reach issues that sometimes limit the performance of organisations, teams and leaders. This method of executive coaching helps to uncover what s really going on and in the course we look at what is required to successfully work below the surface, including using emotional data to help coaches understand what may be happening. Graduates of the programme can expect to experience significant improvement in their confidence when working one-to-one with clients. This can help effect changes in their clients and client systems, which can be sustained and lead to better relationships, clearer goals and effective action by their clients. Assessment Assessment takes the form of seven short (1,000-1,500 words) and one long (3,000 words) case study, which are assessed by course staff and verified by an external examiner.

The Executive Coaching programme has really enabled me to integrate what I previously learned at the Tavistock into my practice. I would recommend it strongly to anyone who wants to apply systemic psychodynamic thinking to coaching and consultancy.
Emeritus Professor of Management University College Cork, Ireland I would not hesitate to thoroughly recommend this course. In my view, what was unique about this course was the collaborative style of working, which truly fosteredand encouraged everyone to offer their ideas and thoughts. It was demanding and supportive in equal measures. The environment enabled us to take risks, make mistakes and build upon them generating new and creative ideas and to see another perspective. There is no doubt it has helped me harness my coachingpotential and determination, to want to go out and be proficient, yet have the capacity to recover and learn constantly in the future. Susan, Organisational Consultant, Executive Coach and Psychotherapist. One of the things that has stood out about the course has been the quality of the feedback way ahead of anything I have seen from any University. Sebastian, Professor of Management, Business School. "When the executive coaching course pops into mind, a smile comes to my mind. I love it: I think the group works well and is forming a nice cohesive and empathic whole. The slow-but-deep teaching style and the complementary approaches of the two teachers works well for me. I like the balance of theory and experience, a cycle of thinking-reflecting-doingreflecting and I like it too because, so far at least, even when I m in the hotseat, I ve felt safe. This is not an easy environment to create, but when it is created, it really fosters learning and higher levels of motivation. Member of the 2013 cohort Other study locations This course and qualification can be commissioned as a bespoke course to take place inside a client organisation/hr department.
