Upgrade Versio Systems to the 2.1 Image Use the instructions in this note to upgrade Versio systems currently running 1.x or 2.0.x versions to the Versio 2.1 WIM image. Complete the steps in the described order. Requirement for Versios in a NEXIO Environment If you are upgrading a standalone PRODUCTNAME platform you can skip this step. If your Versio platform is part of a NEXIO environment that attaches to external storage via a NEXIO MIOH platform, it is essential to ensure the following before upgrading to Versio 2.1. Make sure the NEXIO system is running on the 7.5.1 software release. If it is running on an earlier version, it must be upgraded to the 7.5.1 release BEFORE the Versio platform is upgraded. If upgrading the NEXIO system to the 7.5.1 software release, the Versio platform must be offline during the entire upgrade process. Read the NEXIO Software Installation Guide and carefully follow the steps, while noting all recommendations provided, to properly upgrade the NEXIO system. Backup Settings and Files Backup the NEXIO Settings Before applying the Versio 2.1 image, use the batch file available on Dropbox to archive the current NEXIO settings and license information. You will reapply the saved settings after the image is applied. 1. On the Versio system, create a folder on the D:\ drive called "Backup." 2. In the Backup folder, create a subfolder called "Settings." 3. Save the Nexio.bat files to the Versio system. a. In a browser, go to https://files.imaginecommunications.com/get > Public > 030 Integrated Playout > Software > Versio 2.1. b. Browse to the System Image folder. Note: Check any readme.txt files in the System Image folder for the correct location. c. Navigate to the latest available WIM image folder. d. Open the Resources subfolder. 2015 Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential. 3/10/2015 Page 4
e. Save the Archive_NEXIO_Settings.bat and the Restore_NEXIO_Settings.bat files in the Resources folder to the D:\Backup\Settings folder you created on the Versio system. 4. On the Versio system, navigate to the D:\Backup\Settings folder and double-click the Archive_NEXIO_Settings.bat file to run the file. 5. Press any key to continue. A window opens indicating the backup operations were successful and additional files containing the archived settings appear in the D:\Backup\Settings folder. Backup Files and Network Settings Applying the WIM image will reformat the C:\ drive on the Versio system. If you want to preserve any files on the C:\ drive, backup the files to the D:\ drive before proceeding. It is also recommended that you archive the network configuration settings and then restore them after the WIM image is applied. Backup the ASDB Database If you are upgrading a Versio 2.0.x system you can skip this step. This step is only required for upgrading a Versio 1.x system. Before applying the Versio 2.1 image, create a backup of the ASDB Database that you will restore after the WIM image is applied. Earlier 1.x versions of Versio stored the database on the C:\ drive. Versio 2.1 stores the database on the D:\ drive and must be backed-up before the new image is applied. 1. In the D:\Backup folder you created, add a new subfolder called "BackupDatabase." 2. Select Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 > SQL Server Management Studio. 3. Click Connect in the Connect to Server window. 4. In the Object Explorer expand Databases. 5. Right-click on ASDB and select Tasks > Back Up. 6. Verify that the path displayed in the Destination area is highlighted and click Remove. 7. Click Add in the same area and then click the browse (...) button. 8. Browse to the D:\Backup\BackupDatabase folder. With the BackupDatabase folder highlighted, enter ASDB.bak in the Filename area, and click OK. 9. Click OK in the Select Backup Destination window. 10. Select Options and then select Overwrite All Existing Backup Sets. Click OK. 11. Click OK in the confirmation message that indicates "The backup of database ASDB completed successfully." 12. Close SQL Server Management Studio. 2015 Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential. 3/10/2015 Page 5

If this happens, when you power on the system, immediately shutdown the FXP and LLM before proceeding with the firmware update. Restore the ASDB Database If you are upgrading a Versio 2.0.x system you can skip this step. This step is only required for upgrading a Versio 1.x system. This procedure will restore the ASDB Database into the D:\ Database folder. 1. Create a new folder on the D:\ drive called "Database." 2. Select Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2012 > SQL Server Management Studio. 3. Depending on the Versio system name, use one of the following methods to connect to the server. If the name of the Versio system is still NX1801NGC-729 then click Connect in the Connect to Server window. If the Versio system has been renamed, enter the new computer name in the Server Name area before the "\SQLEXPRESS" and then click Connect in the Connect to Server window. 4.
