Palm and Finger Vein Scanners Finger and Palm Vein Readers work with ACS CheckPoint and ACS Headmaster Desktop and OnDemand. Models available for purchase 12740 Finger Vein Reader 12741 Palm Vein Reader Some organizations have replaced barcode scanners with vein scanners. Instead of scanning a key fob, members scan the veins of their palm or finger (depending on the scanner style) when they check in, creating a numeric code based on location of certain biometric points within their palm/finger. Because vein patterns exist inside the body, it is practically impossible to recreate someone's biometric template. By connecting palm/finger vein scanning devices to check-in stations instead, of barcode scanners, and entering the vein ID in place of the individual s bar code, you can use palm and finger scanners instead of barcode scanners. Scanners convert the vein locations in a person s palm/finger into a numeric code. Keep in mind, while this method is the most secure, it might take a while to create everyone s numeric profile. ACS recommends visiting our palm scanner page to learn more about the options available to your organization. Bio Snap-On is a complete palm/finger vein recognition system that can be instantly integrated with any third party software package. It can be used to complement or replace any external barcode or magnetic stripe device with biometric identification. The vein scanning systems work by using both hardware and software in conjunction with ACS People, Checkpoint, OnDemand and HeadMaster v10.0. To learn more about the hardware and software requirements, click the links below. Getting Started with Scanners Use the checklist below to install, set up, and begin using your palm/finger vein scanners. Install required hardware Setup and install scanners Register individuals Configure Checkpoint setup

Troubleshooting Other scanners set up on my system are affecting the performance of the M2-FV Finger Vein Reader. Match the driver for the M2-FV Finger Vein Reader to the drivers already installed. If you are running Windows 7 with a 1.6 Client Driver (Legacy), you will need to install an updated driver from Hitachi. Contact support to access the driver. Do not install the server a second time. Only the client installation is necessary on second computers, however, you will be required to configure the server path. I have a 64-bit operating system. The Palm Vein Scanner is compatible with a 64-bit operating system, if you use the hybrid software. The Finger vein scanner is currently only compatible with 32-bit operating systems. However, we hope to offer a 64-bit finger vein scanner in mid/late September. I'm using a Mac Currently the M2SYS Palm Scanners and Finger Vein Scanners are not compatible with a Mac operating system. Required Hardware Using biometric scanners is a great way to heighten security at your events that requires little in terms of additional hardware. See the list below to learn more about the hardware requirements to set up palm/finger vein scanning at your organization. Your computer system should meet the current ACS System Requirements. You must have the M2-FV Finger Vein Reader or the M2-PalmVein scanner. In the Starter Package, you'll get: One Server SmartLock USB Drive - This server-specific blue USB Drive comes packaged with your M2-FV Finger Vein Reader/M2-PalmVein scanner and

provides the login information necessary to implement the program. If you do not have the USB drive, contact support at 1.800.669.2509. One Workstation SmartLock USB Drive - This interchangeable, green USB Drive comes packaged with your M2-FV Finger Vein Reader/M2-PalmVein scanner and provides the login information necessary to implement the program. This USB drive is only necessary if the Server is not used as a scanning station. If you do not have the USB drive, contact support at 1.800.669.2509. One palm/finger vein scanner. In the Additional Units package, you'll get: One Workstation SmartLock USB Drive - This interchangeable, green USB Drive comes packaged with your M2-FV Finger Vein Reader/M2-PalmVein scanner and provides the login information necessary to implement the program. This SmartLock USB Drive is necessary to connect to a server and for setting up multiple scanning stations. If you do not have the USB drive, contact support at 1.800.669.2509. One palm/finger vein scanner. Tip Scanners must be connected to the same local area network (LAN) if they are to share an image database. Scanner Setup and Installation The Bio Snap-On software consists of two components (both components must be installed for the system to function): Bio Plug-in Palm/Finger Vein Server This is where the scan comparisons are performed and database is stored. Bio Snap-On Client This is where the snap-on interaction between Bio Snap-On and your destination application can be configured via IP address. You will also use the client to enroll an individual's palm or finger. Once enrolled, the individual can thereafter identify themselves by scanning their palm or finger. In a standalone environment, the Workstation and Server are installed on the same computer. In a network environment, the Server is installed on a central computer which handles requests from multiple Workstation computers. The Workstation is installed on each computer where a Biometric Device (FingerVein or PalmVein Reader) will be used. Accessing the Installation files The installation disks are included in your Starter package. However, if your Biometric device did not come with installation disks, or you've misplaced the disks, please use the links below to download the latest BioPlugin Hybrid Server and BioSnapOn Hybrid Client. Warning Do not connect the scanner to the computer until you are prompted to do so during the BioSnapOn Hybrid Client installation.

BioPlugin Server 7.5 BioSnapOn Client 7.5 The password required for both is: m2hybr1d Installing the Server Warning When prompted to Stop or Continue installation of the Client, click Continue.
