technology for network management and leakage control

meeting the challenge The global increase in the demand for drinking water, coupled with increased urbanisation, an unpredictable climate and environmental concerns form the modern challenge for water supply utilities. It is vital that there are sustainable solutions to these substantive challenges. Water companies must provide a reliable supply whilst ensuring solutions for future demands. The application of modern technology is essential for optimising the efficiency of water networks. Primayer, with innovation at its core, is rising to meet this challenge, through; network management data delivery leakage detection leak location leak confirmation and sizing technology for network management and leakage control

network management Having reliable, accurate, up-to-date data enables efficient network management. Primayer's range of data loggers are able to record all hydraulic parameters and interface to the majority of industry flowmeters. Loggers report using either SMS, GPRS or local (USB) communications. Data is processed using sophisticated data management software which is also available for LAN/WAN operation and interfacing to corporate software systems. Reservoir depth Network pressure DMA and consumption flow meters Insertion flow metering Data management software Ultrasonic flow metering Corporate systems Borehole level Rainfall Waste water Overflow detection

data delivery leak location Seeing the invisible Network data may be delivered to the water company or end-user via a secure server or a web interface. This provides a managed service with data available anytime, anywhere. Alarms may be sent to mobile phones or to an engineers' computer. Management software multi-users Data alarms FTP HTTP Internet browser multi-users Technology for the three stages of the leak location process. Detect Primayer acoustic logger systems are for widespread network deployment. They are fitted at access points, such as valves or hydrants, and provide rapid identification of the presence of leaks by overnight monitoring of acoustic noise. Loggers are available for manual surveys (often termed lift and shift ) or for permanent monitoring to provide leak alarms via SMS and AMR technologies. Email alarms Internet XMS server Offsite backup Database SMS alarms FTP SMS GPRS GSM

Locate Confirm A range of high performance radio based leak noise correlators are available. Multi-point digital correlating loggers incorporate noise logging and correlation into one process. These operate overnight when optimum leak noise propagation occurs and give significant advantages. Optimised technologies are available for location in large diameter mains and plastic pipes. Technology for acoustic listening on the pipe and ground surface. This confirmation provides complete confidence in accurate leak position thus reducing excavation and repair work. Leak sizing analyses the acoustic spectral density to prioritise repairs and give potential further reduction in repair costs. Pipe location To carry out leak location the exact position of pipes must be known. The position of metallic pipes is found using an instrument detecting the electro-magnetic fields around the pipe.
