Recommend approval of Employee Hiring NJSA 18A:6-7 et (Revised 6/30/98) WHEREAS N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1 et seq has been revised and now requires emergent approval to employ an individual prior to receiving criminal history background clearance. BE IT RESOLVED that an application be submitted to the County Superintendent of Schools in accordance with the revised statute, requesting emergent approval of employee hiring for the following individuals for the reasons as indicated. 2. Recommend approval of the following substitutes for the 2012/2013 school year, pending meeting employment requirements, as listed: Teachers: Ugo Adewuni; Erin Dooley; and, Kelly Ann Staeck. 3. Accept, with regret, the retirement/resignation of Marie Wise, teacher of Language Arts at Burlington Township Middle School @ Springside, effective November 1, 2012. Ms. Wise is also requesting payment for all accumulated personal, sick and family illness days, per the negotiated agreement. Ms. Wise has served the district for 12 years. 4. Recommend approval of an unpaid medical leave of absence under FMLA for employee #7081, effective October 1, 2012 through November 2, 2012. 5. Recommend approval to extend the child-rearing leave of absence for Erin Shaw, Occupational Therapist at B. Bernice Young School, through January 31, 2013.

2 6. Recommend approval to terminate the employment of employee #7325, effective October 18, 2012. 7. Recommend approval of payment of all accumulated sick and personal days for Gwendolyn Goolsby-Tillery. Goolsby-Tillery s letter of resignation was accepted at the July 25, 2012 Board Meeting.) Request approval of the following reports as submitted to the Board Secretary for inclusion in the minutes pursuant to Board Policy: (a) Building Use; (b) Student Accidents; (c) Pupil

5 D. BUSINESS Suspensions; (d) Professional Meetings; (e) Class Trips; and, (f) Enrollment. 1. Approve payment of the October 2012 Bill List and the September 2012 Supplemental Bill List. 2. Accept the September Treasurer s and Secretary s Reports with Board Secretary Certification. 3. Pursuant to NJAC 6:20-2.13 (e) we certify that as of September 30, 2012, after review of the secretary s monthly financial report (appropriations section) and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials, to the best of our knowledge, no major account or fund has been overexpended in violations of NJAC 6A:23-2.11 (a) and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year. 4. Approval of September transfers. 5. Recommend approval of the following Lunch Policies for YALE SCHOOL CENTRAL, INC. (YALE), as listed: The Burlington Township Board of Education does not require the private schools to apply for and receive funding from the Child Nutrition Program for the 2012-2013 school year. The Burlington Township Board of Education does not require the private schools to charge students for reduced and/or paid meals for the 2012-13 school year. 6. Waive First Reading and Approve Revised Second Reading of Job Descriptions, as listed: C-1 Senior Maintenance Person C-6 Assistant Maintenance Person C-13 Electrician/Assistant Maintenance Person 7. Approve New Road Construction Management to oversee the Press Box Project as previously discussed, but not formally approved for an amount not to exceed $25,000.

6 8. Approve the M-1 and Comprehensive Maintenance Plan. 9. Approve the transfer of a truck from the Burlington Township Fire Department for $1, thanks to the department, this vehicle will replace a vehicle the Board gave the BTFD for training purposes. 10. Authorize the Business Administrator to seek proposals for all professional services and for a demographic study to support the district s and board goals for 2012-2013. 11. Acknowledge the sale of Springside School to the Township of Burlington as previously authorized by the Board. Closing is being held on Monday, October 15, 2012.
