WHAT'S NEW 7EN12-0262-01 08/2012 StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1 StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1 is the recommended service pack for version 7.0. The StruxureWare Power Monitoring system provides energy consumption monitoring and management for an enterprise of one or many facilities. With this system you can measure, manage, and improve your energy availability, reliability, and efficiency. The following describes what's new in this service pack. Installer The StruxureWare Power Monitoring Installer guides you through the installation. Many configuration and setup options are handled for you automatically. The Installer lets you select the language used in the software components. Your language selection also applies to the text in user interfaces, measurement and device names, and alarms and events. This service pack includes the option to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. It is installed by default when you select the Standalone Server setup type unless you have previously installed a supported edition of SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise. In addition to the setup types summarized below, the Installer includes a new Reporting Client setup type. The Reporting Client provides administrators and power users with the ability to generate reports using the Excel-based Reporter component of StruxureWare Power Monitoring. A Reporting Client needs to be installed after a Standalone Server or a Primary Server is installed and running. The Installer continues to provide the following setup types for installation: Standalone Server hosts StruxureWare Power Monitoring configuration files, the services that are required for the system to function, Microsoft Reporting Services (for installations using a supported edition of SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise only), and a connection to a SQL Server instance for the StruxureWare Power Monitoring databases. It can also aggregate data from all Secondary Servers (if they exist). Database Server used in a distributed installation to host a supported edition of Microsoft SQL Server and your StruxureWare Power Monitoring databases. It can also host Reporting Services (for installations using a supported edition of SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise only), if they are not selected for installation on the Primary Server. This network configuration requires that you install the Database Server on your network before installing the Primary Server. Primary Server used in a distributed installation to host StruxureWare Power Monitoring configuration files and the services that are required for the system to function. The Primary Server communicates with a separate Database Server to access StruxureWare Power Monitoring databases. Secondary Server may be required when you have a large number of devices that use software-based logging. Secondary Server installations are not common and they require advanced network configuration. Engineering Client provides administrators and power users access to the StruxureWare Power Monitoring graphical applications (Management Console, Vista, Designer, Reporter) that you can use to add and configure devices, troubleshoot your system, edit graphics, or perform ION programming tasks. Data storage and sharing The following database servers are used for storing and retrieving historical data: New in this service pack Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express (32-bit and 64-bit) Editions (database size up to 10 GB see the topic "Alarm Notification in a SQL Server Express Installation" in the StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1 User Guide for information about alarm notification pertaining to maximum database size). Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 Standard/Enterprise (32-bit and 64-bit) Editions. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 Standard/Enterprise (32-bit and 64-bit) Editions. Operating environment StruxureWare Power Monitoring software can be installed on the following Microsoft Windows operating systems: Windows 7 SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit) Professional/Enterprise Editions. Windows Server 2008 SP2 (32-bit and 64-bit) Professional/Enterprise Editions. Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit) Professional/Enterprise Editions. Web Client computers can access the Web Applications component using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8.0 or 9.0. Device support The software includes built-in support for a wide range of devices (such as energy and power meters, protection relays, circuit breakers, PLCs, etc), which helps to reduce commissioning time when adding new devices to the power monitoring system. This level of device support allows the use of StruxureWare Power Monitoring software features such as dashboards, device diagrams, reports, and alarms for a newly added device. Database management Scheduled jobs for the product's databases in SQL Server 2008 R2 Express are accessible through Windows Task Scheduler. The following table summarizes the database names and the scheduled jobs that are defined in Task Scheduler. Page 2 of 5

Reports generation The Reporter component allows you to define, generate, and manage comprehensive reports based on information contained in your database. Reporter processes selected data and generates a finished report in Microsoft Excel format. Microsoft Excel and Outlook versions 2007 or 2010 are required by Reporter to format and generate reports, and to email generated reports, respectively. For installations using a SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition, only Reporter is available for generating reports. For installations using a supported edition of SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise, either Reporter or the Reports application (included in the Web Applications component) can be used to generate reports. Web Applications The Web Applications component continues to include browser-accessible graphical user interface applications supporting multiple, simultaneous browser sessions for several users across the network. Using a single logon, a user can switch between any of the following applications: Dashboards provides interactive historical data display and trending capabilities using gadgets containing charts, numbers, text, and other configurable visualizations. Diagrams formerly referred to as WebReach, allows multiple users to access and view graphical representations of the power monitoring system, including real-time information, without installing additional software. Tables allows you to quickly build on-demand views of real-time data from physical or logical devices using either predefined tables or user-defined custom tables. Alarms allows you to view active and historical system alarms and events in a tabular format. You can tailor the system view to your needs by choosing which alarm states, priorities, date range, and devices you want to view. Page 3 of 5

Reports formerly referred to as Web Reporter, allows you to select report parameters and to generate and manage comprehensive reports based on historical data. The Reports application is not available if you are using a SQL Server 2008 Express Edition with the product. Logical devices Logical devices are user-defined bundles of measurements taken from one or more physical devices connected to the power monitoring network. The chosen collection of measurements is then represented as a single device within the system. Logical devices are used to: Create a device representing measurements from a WAGES device, such as a gas or water meter. Create a device representing measurements from an individual breaker in a circuit panel. To assist you in defining logical device types, the Measurement tab in the Logical Device Type Editor now contains an Available Measurements dropdown list that allows you to view a subset of the measurements based on a category name that you select, such as Air, Current, Voltage, and so on. The default All in the list displays all of the categories and their respective measurements in the grid. The Logical Device Editor allows you to view or modify the configuration of existing logical devices, to configure new logical devices, and to export or import logical device configurations in a CSV file. When you map an input device register to an output measurement in the Logical Device editor, the input device registers now appear in bold font. Any unmapped measurements are now displayed in red. Upgrade support StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1 requires a supported combination of Windows operating system and SQL Server edition. (See the "Data storage and sharing" and the "Operating environment" descriptions above. Also see the Installation Guide for further information.) For customers upgrading from ION Enterprise 5.6 SP2 or 6.0 SP1 running in an environment that is not supported by StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1, a software upgrade is not possible on your server. To help address this situation, the Side by Side Upgrade Utility performs a backup of the older version's data and restores it on a system hosting StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1 with a supported combination of Windows operating system and SQL Server edition. For your reference, a software upgrade document Planning Your StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1 Upgrade (RESL204865) is available in the Schneider Electric Power Management Knowledge Base. Consult this document frequently for the latest upgrade information. You can log in to the Knowledge Base at http://www.powerlogic.com/kblogin.cfm. Page 4 of 5
