Assigning owner rights over MS Exchange Server folders Following lines describe how to assign owner rights to super-user over folders on MS Exchange Server. To manage these rights we use PFDAVAdmin tool. This tool can facilitate the process of assigning rights on MS Exchange folders. Download free the PFDAVAdmin tool from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=635be792-d8ad-49e3-ada4- E2422C0AB424&displaylang=en The PFDAVAdmin tool can be used to assign rights over public folders on MS Exchange Server 2000, 2003 and also 2007. In case of MS Exchange Server 2007 run the PFDAVAdmin tool from a computer where.net Framework 1.1 is installed to avoid possible issues. DO NOT run the tool on the MS Exchange Server 2007. To assign owner rights to the super-user over folders on MS Exchange: 1. Run the PFDAVAdmin.exe on your MS Exchange Server 2000 or 2003. In case of MS Exchange 2007 run it from a computer where.net Framework 1.1 is installed. 2. In the PFDAVAdmin window select File / Connect. 3. In the pop-up dialog fill in the following test boxes: Exchange server name of your Exchange Server Global Catalog name of your domain controller (Uncheck the Authenticate as currently logged-on user check box.) 4. Locate the folder for which you want to assign the super-user owner rights: System Folders / EFORMS REGISTRY / Organizational Forms or System Folders / schema-root / microsoft / exchangev1 or Any public folder under Public Folders NOTE: Super-user can be assigned owner rights over all folders under Public Folders at once. 5. In the Permissions window click Add. 6. In the pop-up window enter the name of your super-user (e.g. srv_exchange). Click Search, then OK. 7. Back in the Permissions window make sure that the super-user is assigned an Owner role. It is specified in the down-drop box in the Permissions section. H&S Heilig und Schubert Software AG page 3/7
8. Finally click Commit changes. The rights have been set. Assigning owner rights to super-user over all public folders at once 1. Run the PFDAVAdmin.exe and connect to your Exchange Server as described in the previous section (point 1 through 3). In the left pane select Public Folders. 2. 6. Click OK. Now you have to add your super-user. To do so click Add. 7. In the pop-up window enter the name of your super-user (e.g. srv_exchange). Click Search, then OK. H&S Heilig und Schubert Software AG page 6/7
