Political objectives in Oslo 50 % reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases by 2030 50 % recovery of materials by 2014 Source sorting of food waste and plastic packaging by 2012 Increased use of renewable energy: Decision of sustainable cycle of waste handling, energy recycling and District heating in Oslo (1-2 TWh.) Change from fossil fuels to renewable waste-based fuel for the district heating system. Use biogas as renewable fuel in vehicles

Oslo and EGE in a climate perspective Based on the political objectives, Oslo has defined the scope of work in EGEs building programme : Scope of work, EGE: New Waste-to-energy line, Klemetsrud KA3 Optical sorting plant at Haraldrud Optical sorting plant at Klemetsrud Biogas plant at Nes in Romerike

Circular Waste Management in Oslo The climate perspective, realised through circular waste management Circular waste management is based on total recovery of materials and energy that waste, as a resource, represents. EGE s new plants at Klemetsrud and Haraldrud have been developed in pursuance of this perspective, focusing on production of renewable energy, such as district heating, electricity and biogas, and the best possible materials recovery from food waste.

Biogas plant: From food waste to biogas and biofertilizer Biogas plant

Environment and Climate Aspects Using biogas as fuel offers global environmental benefits, as this replaces and reduces fossil CO2 emissions and recuce local emissions. Nitrogen and phosphorus are nonrenewable resources, which are in short supply on a global scale. Proper use of bio fertilizer will return these nutrients to the ground.
