Client Medialogia is headquartered in Moscow ISV and provides media monitoring and analysis services to businesses and the government sector. Their services are widely used to extract essential, business critical information efficiently from the constant flow of global media resources. Their media database is updated with information extracted on a daily basis from more than 11,000 media sources: news agencies, newspapers, magazines, radio stations, the Internet, blogs and social networks.
Business Challenge Starting from the ground up, Luxoft developed a plug and play product release in just 3 months. The instant popularity of eoffice required seamless deployment of subsequent releases and proactive maintenance with a constant focus on the quality and stability of the supported applications and services. Now, more than ever, traveling executives are technically tethered to our global, 24/7, real-time world - totally reliant on today s cutting edge technology to stay not only connected and informed, but highly productive as well. Until just a few years ago, the Smartphone and a heavy laptop were standard traveling companions of business people and government officials. However, the unprecedented popularity of Apple s ipad has propelled tablet technology into today s business tool of choice. Now tablet computers are one of the biggest IT trends and companies using tablets are looking for ways to leverage and customize this technology in order to enhance enterprise-wide performance and productivity. Challenge: eoffice on the Move! Keeping pace with growing user demand, Medialogia developed eoffice, a dashboard for the C-Suite that is capable of providing a fast and simple way for executives to communicate with each other and with their teams and support staff. Team members and support staff use server components to process and prepare raw data points, such as incoming phone calls, mail and email, reports, appointments, and other documents, and then build an entire information landscape that can be accessed instantly with a few touch points by the executive on the go. In essence, eoffice aggregates all the convenience and productivity features of an electronic document management system, shared calendars, task/ order tracking systems, as well as storage for and access to reports on calls, inquiries, and/or non-attended visits. 02
In addition, eoffice has a dynamic media-aggregator component that links to Medialogia s proprietary analytical service. This service accumulates and processes data from over 11,000 media sources and is capable of displaying the most current snapshot of news and information. This is critical for executives in time-sensitive or emergency situations, who don t always have access or visibility to office staff or internal corporate systems. In order to shield end-users from the complex functionality of eoffice while still maintaining lightning fast communication, a simple tablet UI was created by developing an ipad-native application on one side and a.netbased portal on the other. The Implementation: eoffice, On Demand and On the Go! Using a SCRUM-based software development methodology, the Luxoft project team provided full project lifecycle services from initial system design to testing and final implementation. The most important and distinctive feature of the project was offline functionality. This advantage was crucial, since executives are required to remain productive even while traveling, when there is often limited internet connection availability on a plane, train, or in other locations. eoffice automatically synchronizes its local database with the server as frequently as possible, thus enabling offline access to data. Luxoft often went the extra mile for us, - says Vsevolod Vanchikov, CTO of Medialogia. During the development process, they took the initiative to optimize and improve the application whenever possible. Any and all issues that came up during the project were solved quickly due to the exclusive professionalism of the work team, Vsevolod reports. eoffice is a client-server system that uses a web interface. Assistants work on the server end creating the calendar, controlling reception of visitors and guests, and forwarding documents for review, processing, and/or approval. All changes are saved in the server and are synchronized automatically with the executive s ipad. 03
Capabilities of the Solution eoffice provides powerful resources to executives through their ipads. Features include: News: The application provides monitoring and analysis of mass media and blogs to track the latest important news in Russia and abroad. The tool can be focused on the news about the executive, his employees, as well as the work of the office in general. Calendar: Executives can prepare for a meeting or conference even if he or she is out of the office. The tool will provide all of the necessary information, including documents for the meeting, information concerning the participants, materials from the last meetings with regard to this topic, and more. Reception: eoffice provides a hot link with the receptionist. Information can be relayed concerning important phone calls and visitors with the capability of giving instructions to the secretaries. Documents: The application contains a library of documents and reference materials that are always at hand. Offline Mode: One of the most important features is the ability to work with all the information and documents offline. Offline mode is particularly convenient for executives during business trips and especially during flights. Incremental synchronization algorithms (supporting queues and broken download resumes) allow synchronizing up to 1Gb of different data. Project Results Luxoft met all project milestones and expectations, on time and within budget. As a result, the eoffice application is implemented in powerful organizations including the Russian Federation, Aeroflot, VTB, Ministry of Public Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, RF Ministry of Defense, RF Ministry of Education and Science, RF Ministry of Finance, RF Ministry of Justice, Moscow Government, Rosnano, Rosneft, Rosfinmonitoring, Sberbank, and the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. Because of its stellar performance on this custom interface development project, Luxoft is currently working on enhancing future functionality in the application. 04
