FAQ: Primavera P6 Analytics Q: Is Primavera P6 Analytics an Oracle BI Application like Oracle Project Analytics? A: Primavera P6 Analytics is very similar to other Oracle business intelligence applications in that it contains pre-built ETL, data models, star schemas, metadata, dashboards, reports and KPIs. But it is a Primavera-only product and is not part of the formal Oracle BI application taxonomy. Q: Do I need to use OBIEE with Primavera P6 Analytics or can I use another BI tool? A: Primavera P6 Analytics requires OBIEE. But you can use another reporting tool to report from either the Primavera P6 Reporting Database or from the OBIEE metadata. Q: Which versions of Oracle BI does Primavera P6 Analytics support? A: Oracle Business Intelligence 10g Q: What version of Primavera P6 does P6 Analytics support? A: Primavera P6 release 6.2 and Primavera P6 Release 7 Q: Do I need to purchase a separate ETL tool for Primavera P6 Analytics to work? A: No. The ETL comes along with the Primavera P6 Analytics package. The ETL is included as part of the Primavera P6 Reporting Database and uses PL/SQL instead of Java as opposed to an ETL COTS tool. Q: How is security enabled in Primavera P6 Analytics? A: P6 project-level security is replicated throughout the product to the ODS, star schemas and OBI dashboards. Q: What type of skill set is needed to create and modify the dashboards in Primavera P6 Analytics? A: A business user familiar with building reports from a drag-and-drop interface can build dashboards. Knowledge of the project management terminology from Primavrea P6 is required. Q: What are the industries where this can be implemented? A: Primavera P6 Analytics is relevant to any organization that could benefit from better project selection and execution, from any industry.

Q: Can coding at project, WBS, activity and resource assignment level be extracted by Primavera P6 Analytics & stored in the Primavera P6 Reporting Database? A: The WBS along with Project, Resource and Activity codes are part of the P6 Reporting Database and available as dimensions in the stars and Analytics. Q: How different is it from the existing Primavera P6 web? A: P6 Web is the hub of the Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management suite. This is the interface for users to initiate new projects, plan resources and build project plans. In addition, there are collaborative capabilities in P6 web and organizations leverage it for real-time updates from the field. P6 web does have some dashboard capabilities. These dashboards are project centric and display 'to date' information. Primavera P6 Analytics dashboards provide time phased and trend data that is not available elsewhere. In addition, there are custom KPIs that can be delivered through Primavera P6 Analytics and dashboards can be resource centric or focus around other information besides project. Since Primavera P6 Analytics is built on the OBI platform, it is highly configurable and open for pulling in data from other sources. This makes it a natural solution for collecting, gathering, storing, and analyzing project information across multiple systems. Q: Does one of those pre-coded reports include a Timescale Logic Diagram like in old P3? A: No, but we are planning a Timescale Logic Diagram for Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management Release 8. It will have similar configuration options that you are familiar with in Primavera P3. Q: Can OBI extract historical data that has been stored by Primavera P6 Store Period Performance, including both To Date and Periodic data? A: Yes, the Primavera P6 Reporting Database extracts information stored in the P6 Period Performance. This includes actual this period information. In addition, the reporting database will snapshot your project data, so you could analyze the trend of project level data such as Estimate At Complete (EAC). OBI then presents all this data within interactive dashboards and also through ad-hoc analysis capabilities. Q: Is it possible to connect Primavera P6 Analytics to an ODS scheme as well? A: Yes. Out of the box, we'll give you the mapping to the data warehouse tables. You will need to build the ODS mapping. Q: How different or what is the difference between OBI and Primavera P6 Analytics? A: Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) is a BI platform which provides the enabling technology. Primavera P6 Analytics provide pre-built metadata and interactive

dashboards through the OBI platform. Primavera P6 Analytics also includes the Primavera P6 Reporting Database which is the main data source for it. Q: What is the ideal size of database / data recommended to implement Primavera P6 analytics? Roughly how many Primavera P6 projects within a single database? A: We have a sizing whitepaper that should answer your questions, which is on our new product page: Click here Q: Any chance of a Gantt-chart in these dashboards? A: OBIEE dashboards do not have a Gantt chart component at this time. Q: Does this work with stand-alone installations? Specifically if I want to perform analytics on one project. A: It works with Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management Release 6.2.1 and higher. It doesn't matter what modules of Primavera P6 are being used. It extracts from the Primavera P6 database which is common to all modules. There is only one data model. Q: Are you drilling on live data or is it a copy of the data taken at a certain time? A: Primavera P6 Analytics is driven from data in the Primavera P6 Reporting Database. An ETL process moves data from the Primavera P6 transactional system to the Reporting Database (RD). The Project History star in the RD captures snapshots over time. Q: What skill set do you recommend for generating dashboards? As a follow-up, is there a catalog of the analytics you provide out of the box? A: Primavera P6 Analytics provides 70+ prebuilt, interactive dashboards. Business users can create and modify dashboards with minimal training. Q: Please provide information on how to implement this on my computer - provide links? How do I install the module? A: Primavera P6 Analytics can be downloaded from Oracle's E-Delivery: http://edelivery.oracle.com. A quick start guide and administration guide are provided to help with the installation. Q: Does Primavera P6 Analytics come with WBS and Activity level charts? A: Yes, there are charts and views specific to WBS and activities.

Q: If we currently own Primavera P6 Client, P6 Web Access and Progress Reporter licenses, do we need to purchase Oracle BI and Primavera P6 Reporting Database IN ADDITION to Primavera P6 Analytics? What is the cost of one license for Primavera P6 Analytics? A: Primavera P6 Analytics is an independent product that you would need to purchase. It includes a restricted use license of the Primavera P6 Reporting Database. Oracle BI is also a needed component. Q: What about installation? A: Installation and implementation of Primavera P6 Analytics and the Primavera P6 Reporting Database should be performed with the assistance of Oracle Consulting Services or a certified Oracle partner. Q: Is it possible to access data from others systems (from Contract Management for example) or excel or others? A: Yes. OBIEE can connect to various data sources including other Oracle Primavera products or any type of database or flat file including Excel and XML. Q: What's the difference between Oracle Primavera PPM and Analytics and Oracle Agile PLM's PPM and Analytics? Is there a capacity difference or does Oracle position them differently for different markets? Is there a plan to merge them? A: No current plans to merge. Agile's product is focused very much on New Product Development, while Primavera is focuses on all types of projects. Q: Has Oracle Primavera made any survey as what are the top 10 to 40 top functionalities of PPM among CIOs or PPM users. A: We have not conducted surveys around specific functionality. We, and other organizations, have conducted research around the top business challenges in PPM. Some are similar across industries while others are unique. Q: Can we use P6's User Define Fields in the Dashboards? A: User Defined Fields are not in the star schemas for this current release. This is part of our roadmap. You can, however, use project, activity and resource codes in Primavera P6 Analytics. In addition, OBIEE does provide the capability to map in User Defined Fields from the ODS. Q: Is there a multi-language support? A: Yes, OBIEE provides multi-language support. Click here for more specifics about language support in OBI.

Q: I heard this is available now to customers running Primavera P6 release 6.21 and PRD. Is there a separate license process to get Primavera P6 Analytics? A: Yes. You must license Primavera P6 Analytics separately. It includes a restricted use license of the P6 Reporting Database and there is a migration program to help customers move from the Primavera P6 Reporting Database to Primavera P6 Analytics. Q: The licensing for Primavera P6 Analytics... is it named users only or site license? A: Primavera P6 Analytics is available per application user. Please work with an Oracle sales rep about enterprise or site licensing options, or call us at 1-800-423-0245 Q: Will you be able to share the webcast deck after the presentation? A: If you registered for the live event or on-demand version, the slides are available for download on the webcast recording console once you launch the presentation: Click here Q: Where can I get more information about Primavera P6 Analytics? A: For more information, please contact us at +1.800.423.0245 to speak with an Oracle Primavera representative or visit our website.
