Students form bands performing and earning about a variety of different music styes throughout the year such as homegrown, bues, reggae, hip hop/r&b, rock and pop. A short written questionnaire wi determine computer iteracy at the time of the audition. Standard entry Appicants must attend an audition interview. Preference is given to appicants who demonstrate musica abiity and have NCEA Leve 2 or equivaent, or a work history indicating reiabiity and motivation. Appicants shoud have studied music or have performance experience. Stricty imited paces. Non-standard entry If you are over 20 and do not meet the criteria above, you may sti appy but your acceptance on the programme wi be at the discretion of the Programme Co-ordinator, who wi be ooking at evidence of abiity to succeed, e.g. maturity, ife and work experience, succeed in other study. Faciities EIT s brand new music department offers two band sized rehearsa rooms which can be converted into ive recording studios, aong with an isoated voca recording booth. Recorded projects can then be mixed and edited in the main Appe Macintosh suite using state of the art software (Pro Too, Abeton Live, Garageband) with professiona monitoring systems and hardware. Sound insuated rooms mean students can rehearse and practice under fu performance conditions without fear of disturbing other casses on campus. Name Tom Pierard Quaifications BMus (Performance) Tom s career as a professiona percussionist has seen him perform and tour extensivey both nationay and internationay. He has given master casses and run workshops throughout the word, and has twice participated and performed at the prestigious Taiwan Internationa Percussion Convention invitationa. Primariy a drumset speciaist, the ast few years have seen him work as a session payer in Weington - you can hear his work with such names as Rhian Sheehan, Strike Percussion, The Famiy Cactus and many more. Matiu Whiting Matiu Whiting studied Jazz and Cassica at the New Zeaand Schoo of Music where he attained an honours degree in Music Performance. He has spent time paying with various Orchestras around the country as we as various theatre productions and with numerous smaer groups paying genres and styes as disparate as Latin america, Rock, Gipsy, Jazz and Hip Hop to name a few. Sarah Terry BMus (Sonic Arts) After studying at the Neson schoo of Music, Sarah competed a degree in Sonic Arts with Victoria University. Since then she has produced two studio abums, and performs reguary around NZ as a versatie singer/songwriter. Part Time Lecturers Winston Pitt, Anton Wuts, Nick Bow and Karyn Briggs.
