Health and Human Services Do you aspire to make a difference within your community, affect societal change, or enjoy caring for others? Improve Your Community. The mission of health and human services (HHS) is to improve the health and well-being of citizens and their communities. It is an interdisciplinary study that works to prevent and address problems for better overall quality of life. Our bachelor of health and human services degree offers a combination of real world, career preparation, and general education classes. Earn Your Degree Totally Online. The health and human services degree is available totally online. Those living in central Indiana may also take advantage of our face-to-face classes, at two locations, for many of the general education courses. Take a Leadership Role. Although there are similarities, careers in HHS are different than those in public health or social work. Public health jobs typically focus on regulatory, legislative, or environmental issues, while HHS specialists use this knowledge to educate and serve others. Careers in health and human services also go beyond direct individual care. HHS professionals are leaders who often coordinate the delivery of healthcare, and focus on broader scale work within the community. Make An Impact. The need for well-trained individuals in the diverse field of health and human services is rising across the United States. Graduates may pursue employment as: Health Educators Community Health Managers Case Managers Child Welfare Specialists Elder Care Services Workers Disability Specialists Population Health Coordinators Non-Profit Program Directors Community Activists Probation Officers Legal Mediators HHS professionals often find jobs in elder care facilities, hospitals, clinics, non-profit organizations, legal departments, rehabilitation centers and government agencies. Admission Requirements To be admitted into the Health and Human Services Program, you must: Be at least 21 years of age; Provide all official high school and college transcripts; and a GPA of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale from the last college attended; a high school GPA of 2.30 on a 4.00 scale; a GED score of 51 or above; or a passing TASC score.
