Short CV Prof. Zünd was appointed to the Board of Directors at University Hospital Zurich in March 2008 as Director of Research and Education. The scope of responsibilities and duties of the Director of Research and Education includes conducting research and producing educational activities at the University Hospital as well as to manage the interface between the University Hospital, the Faculty of Medicine and the University of Zurich. As Research Fellow he completed research stays lasting several years to carry out research projects at the «Baylor College of Medicine» at Texas Medical Center in Houston (USA) and at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at «Children s Hospital» as well as at «Brigham and Women s Hospital» at Harvard Medical School in Boston (USA). In 1997, Prof. Zünd habilitated at the University of Zurich to become Privatdozent at the Clinic for Cardio-vascular Surgery and, subsequently, obtained the National Certification for Cardio-vascular Surgery of Switzerland (FMH). In 2005, Prof. Zünd was appointed as Managing Director of the Center for Clinical Research (Zentrum für Klinische Forschung - ZKF) at the University Hospital and the University of Zurich. The following year, he was appointed as Extraordinarius Professor ad personam at the University of Zurich. Prof. Zünd has been honoured numerous times in recognition of his scientific contribution. Kurz CV Gregor Zünd absolvierte sein Medizinstudium an der Universität Bern. Während seiner Ausbildungszeit folgten zwei mehrjährige Forschungsaufenthalte am «Baylor College of Medicine», Texas Medical Center, in Houston und auf der Herzchirurgie am «Children s Hospital» und «Brigham and Women s Hospital» der Harvard Medical School in Boston. Im Jahr 1997 habilitierte Gregor Zünd im Fach Herzchirurgie, wurde anschliessend Oberarzt an der Klinik für Herz- und Gefässchirurgie und erlangte den Facharzttitel für Herz- und thorakale Gefässchirurgie (FMH). Im Jahr 2001 wurde Gregor Zünd zum Abteilungsleiter der Abteilung Chirurgische Forschung Departement Chirurgie USZ gewählt. Im Jahr 2005 folgte die Ernennung zum Managing Director des «Zentrums für Klinische Forschung (ZKF)» am UniversitätsSpital Zürich / der Universität Zürich und im Folgejahr die Ernennung zum Extraordinarius. Per 1. März 2008 wurde Gregor Zünd als Direktor Forschung und Lehre am UniversitätsSpital Zürich berufen. Aufgaben- und Verantwortungsfeld der Direktion Forschung und Lehre umfassen die Forschungs- und Lehrtätigkeit am UniversitätsSpital Zürich sowie die Betreuung der Schnittstellen zur Universität Zürich.
