Jeffrey Budoff, M.D., Joe Prud homme, M.D., 2005 Co-investigator on NIH proposal submitted through Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine for creation of a bone, cartilage, and joint fluid tissue bank to facilitate the study of gene markers for osteoarthritis. The principal investigator has already identified more one hundred and fifty genes unique to osteoarthritis Helped with initial planning for closed head injury studies at Virginia Tech. These studies utilize instrumented football helmets and continuous monitoring to study the mechanisms of injury which lead to concussions. Studies are ongoing and have led to multiple publications.
