BioWin Network Installation Introduction This document outlines procedures and options for installing the network version of BioWin. There are two parts to the network version installation: 1. The installation of the license management software HL-Server (see Install Hardlock Server Software). 2. The installation of the BioWin software. The BioWin software may be installed: 1. Locally on each machine that will run the program [default installation program]. 2. On a network drive accessible to each machine that will run BioWin. If the option (1) is selected the default installation procedure may be used that is the installation program that automatically launches when the CD is inserted into the drive [bw21setup.exe]. If option (2) is selected then the appropriate BioWin network installation files must first be copied onto the network [see Install BioWin on the Network Drive] and then each client must run the Network client installation to allow it to access the files and license server [see Install BioWin on the Client Machine]. Note : On most machines when the CD is inserted into the CD drive Windows automatically launches the standard BioWin installation program [option (1)]. To access the other installation programs on the CD you must terminate the installation and browse the CD using Windows Explorer. Install Hardlock Server Software BioWin network version accesses the Hardlock through the hardlock server software. The server software must be loaded on a machine that is always available when any client wants to use the BioWin software. In most cases this will be a server on the network, but it is not required that this software be installed on a server. The BioWin Network Installation 1
