Your Customer-Centric Data Centre For the vast majority of organisations the data centre is a mission critical operation. At it s north London site, Sovereign Data Connect (SDC) has built a facility and more precisely is providing a service that is, very simply, designed to truly support our clients business from providing the right advice about the level of facilities required; to how the data centre services will link into the infrastructure; combined with the rest of the ICT experience, ability to scale, resources and business understanding that are the key criteria for ensuring business continuity. Located only 14 miles north of the City of London, Metro Point is easily accessible by car and by London Underground services. Metro Point s location within the M25, close to - but remote from - London, means that utilising its services can benefit from: Being easily accessible: 2 miles south of J24/M25 Adjacent to Cockfosters tube station Having a low risk profile (the area is an average 250 feet above sea level) Low latency network services. 3
Tier III Accreditation Undergoing review with the Uptime Institute for Tier III Design Accreditation. Tier III Data Centre Concurrently Maintainable Site Infrastructure A concurrently maintainable data centre has redundant capacity components and multiple independent distribution paths serving the computer equipment. Only one distribution path is required to serve the computer equipment at any time. The site should have 12 hours of on-site fuel storage for N capacity. The rating also requires all IT equipment to be dual powered, installed properly and compatible with the site s architecture. Uptime Institute Tier Classification Tier 1: composed of a single path for power and cooling distribution, without redundant components, providing 99.671% availability Tier II: composed of a single path for power and cooling distribution, with redundant components, providing 99.741% availability Tier III: composed of multiple active power and cooling distribution paths, but only one path active, has redundant components, and is concurrently maintainable, providing 99.982% availability 4 Tier IV: composed of multiple active power and cooling distribution paths, has redundant components, and is fault tolerant, providing 99.995%
Why Tier III? The Uptime Institute s tiered classification system is an industry standard approach to site infrastructure functionality. It addresses common benchmarking standard needs. Many data centres may be built to Tier III standards or aligned to Tier III, but unless the Uptime Institute has accredited them, they have not been independently audited and are often self certified. 5

Fire Detection & Suppression IG-55 (50% Argon, 50% Nitrogen - Argonite) is a composite gas, which extinguishes most fires within 60 seconds. Acceptable for human exposure for short period of times Argon and Nitrogen are both naturally occurring gases so considered to be environmentally friendly. VESDA - is an air sampling fire alarm system designed for very early warning fire and smoke detection 15 zone air sampling system Leak Detection A leak detection system that identifies within 1 metre, where the leak is by way of a mapped sensing cable and easy reference framed layout. Cooling Cold aisle containment is a highly effective form of airflow management that results in the optimisation of cold air usage. Specification N+1 redundancy on Eco DX cooling system Twin Compressors per circuit for high efficiency at part load Twin refrigerant circuits Dual HP switch with auto reset timer for improved resilience N+1 Power supplies Benefits Highly efficient use of cold air Reduced power usage (cooling system and hardware) Helps achieve hot/cold aisle compliance to TIA 942 and ASHRAE Reduced carbon footprint Increased uptime Increased resilience Hotspot elimination 9
