IBM United States Announcement 205-193, dated August 16, 2005 World Programming System provides system performance monitoring and reporting, and supports end-user applications and reporting Description...2 Technical information...2 Ordering information...3 Terms and conditions... 4 Prices...4 At a glance The WPS Workbench is a modern integrated development environment based on the Eclipse platform and includes: A program editor that incorporates type-ahead features Syntax highlighting User customized environments Project management Source code control Teamwork features Local history Debugging and error logging When installed on the zseries, WPS has a mainframe batch interface that can be invoked from JCL. Overview The World Programming System (WPS) is an integrated development environment incorporating an advanced analytical language interpreter to provide a data processing and manipulation tool. The WPS development environment is built on the Eclipse Framework, which is supported by leading companies including IBM. Product information is provided by the program supplier, World Programming Company, Ltd. Key prerequisites Hardware: IBM zseries Software: Java 1.4 Operating system: Minimum z/os 1.4 Planned availability date August 19, 2005 IBM United States Announcement 205-193 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1

Description WPS can be used to manipulate and visualize data in any way you choose. This powerful tool will help you maximize data processing efficiency, with facilities for sub-setting and merging a wide range of data sources. It allows you to concisely summarize data, such as frequency counts and cross-tabulation tables. You can use it to compute a variety of descriptive statistics, including the mean, range, sum, variance, standard deviation, and more. Use it to compute correlations and other measures of association, as well as cross-tabulations. WPS is a reporting application specifically for the mainframe platform that leverages open systems technology. WPS runs under z/os. Mainframe WPS comprises the same software that runs on the distributed environment allowing you to integrate across platforms in a seamless way. For example, programs can be written, edited, and tested in the Eclipse-based end-user development environment before being transferred to the mainframe for final execution. As a mainframe application, WPS integrates with open technology databases. It also supports common database standards such as SQL, ODBC, and JDBC, guaranteeing users maximum compatibility and choice. WPS provides the Systems Manager a set of prewritten menu systems. These menus may be used to execute programs and modify program parameters. To order a basic license, specify the program number, the one-time charge (OTC) features desired, and the media feature number required. Product support charge (PSC): First year support is included in the price of the product. This will include knowledge database updates, defect support, product updates, enhancements, and new releases. Customers can purchase extended support from the program supplier beyond the first year. Program name: WPS Program PID: 5620-FSM Entitlement License option Identifier Description pricing metric S01215B WPS Per Value Unit Orderable Supply ID Language Distribution medium S01215C U.S. English CD-ROM Value Unit-based pricing for host products Value Unit pricing for eligible zseries programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each zseries IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Millions of Service Units (MSU) An MSU is defined as millions of CPU service units per hour; the measure of capacity used to describe the computing power of the hardware processors on which S/390 or zseries software runs. Processor MSU values are determined by the hardware vendor, IBM, or software compatible vendors (SCVs). Example 1: Use the following chart to determine the number of Value Units required to order WPS. Note: The customer's overall network environment includes: Host server: One 1,500 MSU zseries server All products in this example employ value unit VUE020 (VUE = Value Unit Exhibit). If the customer has installed 1,500 MSUs, the applicable number of Value Units will be: Value Units MSUs /MSU Value Units Base 3 1.00 3.00 Tier A 42.15 6.30 Tier B 130.08 10.40 Tier C 140.04 5.60 Tier D 1185.03 35.55 Total 1500 60.85 To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to Value Units or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool Web site at http://ibm.com/zseries/swprice/vuctool IBM United States Announcement 205-193 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 3

When calculating the total number of Value Units, the sum is rounded up to the next integer. The customer will need to license 61 Value Units in this example. Value Units for non-msu-based S/390 processors: System Value Units/System MP3000 H30 3 MP3000 H50 4 MP3000 H70 6 ESL Models 1 Basic machine-readable material: To order, select the feature number of the desired distribution media: Feature Environment number Media type All 5003 CD-ROM All 9001 Asset Registration Terms and conditions Licensing: Products presented under this announcement are licensed and distributed by the program supplier.
